New Zealand Wildlife Service. In the early 1990s, we started offering expeditions from New Zealand to the Ross Sea region of Antarctica. And then we expanded northwards, so we included the South Pacific places like Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu. Late last year we welcomed what's now our flagship to the company, which is Heritage Adventurer. She was purpose built in Finland as a luxury small expedition ship in the 1990s. She's been updated and modernized and refurbished throughout her career. So she has a high ice class and is a very comfortable ship to explore. And we sail between the Ross Sea region of Antarctica, through New Zealand, the South Pacific, Australia, Indonesia, Philippines, and north to Japan as well. So over the course of the year. We operate a second vessel, so we have two in total. We have a small expedition yacht, which explores the best of New Zealand. So it's 18 guests at a time, and it very much is a return to our roots as a compa- ny. It's where we started, obviously, but with a much more luxurious ship than when we started. The islands south of New Zealand are remarkable, they're UNESCO World Heritage Islands. They have half the penguin species and half the albatross spe- cies in the world. The ship Heritage Adventure takes a maximum on any voyage of 140 passengers and she operates year-round. We specialise probably more than other companies in very long voyages because of some of the destinations that we explore.
Antarctica from New Zealand to Japan through the Pacific, stopping at the islands along the way. And something we're finding is that more clients are actually looking for those longer experiences. So we have other voyages, for example, from Japan to Australia, where you can take a two-week cruise part of the way, but we have designed it so you can also stay on board for longer, for four or six weeks, as the itineraries continue, designed to be taken. And many clients are choosing to do this as well, because they like to be on board. www.heritage-expeditions.com
