The paper concludes that there is a possibility that two global economic camps will emerge, which would provide more flexibility and higher negotiating power for energy producers. It also concludes there are contradicting trends in the energy market between the continuation of the historic rise in demand in the short- and medium- term until the middle of the century with the emergence of new economic powers such as China and India, and its gradual decline with the development of renewable energy technologies within a context of increasing economic crisis for at least the next decade. This makes it necessary for producers in the energy markets to coordinate their efforts to ensure that their returns do not decline significantly and diversify the forms of their contracts in a way that guarantees qualitative advantages in terms of industrialisation and long-term growth to get out of resource-based economies .
