I love being able to provide confidence for my clients. It starts the very first time they come into our spa. During the first appointment, I give clients a thorough evaluation of their skin. I identify parts of the skin that are losing volume and any main issues to address. As we age, our cheeks can become hollow and the nasal folds can become more prominent. I evaluate my clients based on these kinds of features. Then I talk to my clients. I’ll tell them that, to look younger, we need to replace volume. Our faces lose definition along the jawline as we age and the jowls start to droop, so we work to add firmness and elasticity back into these important areas. I’m always considering what improvements will help a person look much younger and match how they look on the outside with how they feel on the inside. You know what I love even more than the physical transformations I see in my clients? It’s the mental transformations. You look younger after just one treatment, and then it changes the way you see yourself and the way you feel. The Transformation

What I Love About My Job

When someone asks me what my favorite part of my job is, it’s an easy answer — I love to see the transformations in my clients. When a client first comes in, they often don’t know what to expect. They want to change the appearance of their skin, but they’re unsure how that’s going to happen. When we see them for a follow- up, we’ll use Botox and fillers, and in 2–3 weeks, they’re looking refreshed, relaxed, and much younger. Clients will tell me, “I’ve been getting all these wonderful comments about my skin; people are noticing!” With their new look, they get their self-confidence back.

Did Your Workout Routine Take a Summer Vacation? JUMP BACK INWITH THESE STRATEGIES With barbecues, trips to the pool, and indulging in refreshing beverages on the patio, summer is full of relaxation and fun. But those heart-pumping, muscle- building trips to the gym may have become less frequent during the warmer months. If your workout routine went on its own summer vacation, here are three strategies to get back to it. 1. Find something you like to do. Maybe part of the reason your fitness routine took a break was because you didn’t enjoy doing it. If that’s the case, re-evaluate your options. There is no superior form of exercise, and there are plenty of options to align with your preferences. If you couldn’t get enough of hiking in national parks over the summer, join a hiking group in your community. If you prefer being on a team, look for a local adult league for your favorite sport. 2. Set yourself up for success. You would go to that 5:30 p.m. boot camp class, but it’s right in the middle of your daughter’s dance practice. Getting to the gym is half the battle, so make it easier on yourself by preparing in advance. Find a facility with a schedule that easily fits yours. Pumpkin Spice Refresher Facial This rejuvenating facial not only includes all the autumn scents of your favorite fall beverage, but it also includes the full PSL treatment: Fall skin analysis

1 bunch Tuscan kale, rinsed

Salt, for pasta water and to taste 2 ounces fresh grated Parmigiano-Reggiano (optional)

1 15-ounce can cannellini (white kidney) beans 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

DIRECTIONS 1. In a large stock pot, boil 6 quarts of liberally salted water. On another burner, heat a large skillet to medium-low. 2. Add pasta to boiling water and cook for 3 minutes less than the package recommends. 3. While pasta is cooking, add beans, red pepper, and 1

If this last one wasn’t on your list, Adriana Garcia and Luz Lituma, founders of LatinXHikers, want to change your mind.

There are benefits of hiking beyond the physical ones. Being outside is great for your mental health. Taking a break, even for 20 minutes, can help you feel happier and less stressed than you did before. And that, of course, will show in the way you look too. Luz and Adriana are big believers in the fact that everyone enjoys the outdoors differently — you don’t have to do a 20- mile backpacking trip to get outside! You also don’t need every piece of fancy gear to go on a trek. Go for a short hike or a picnic outdoors and help your skin and body feel renewed. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!

With their shared love for getting outside, these two women formed the group LatinXHikers after seeing a lack of representation of the Latin community in the outdoors. According to Luz, “We feel that it is our responsibility as children of immigrants to form an appreciation for our lands and to help protect and preserve them for the future.” Hiking has become a popular fitness option for everyone, including celebrities. Actress and “Slumdog Millionaire” star Frida Pinto wrote in Los Angeles Magazine that she discovered the beauty of her new home through hiking. “Once I was introduced to the beautiful hikes in the Palisades and Malibu, my perspective really started changing,” Pinto wrote. Vanessa Hudgens and Kate Hudson are also fans, as proven by their Instagram feeds. Luz and Adriana hope to bring this awareness of how accessible and fun hiking can be to younger Latinos and to the broader community.
