PURPOSE This temporary regulation is intended to provide eligible employees with the opportunity to continue to deliver the efficiencies arising from and receive the benefits associated with remote work opportunities as COVID-19 mitigation measures are eased or retired over the course of the 2021-2022 academic year. This regulation is also intended to provide means for facilitating continuity of College operations in the event that College buildings and facilities, in whole or in part, are closed or otherwise become inaccessible due to a natural disaster or other emergency situation. Although employees generally cannot be expected to perform all of the essential functions of their positions while working remotely on an exclusive basis, the College has implemented this regulation as a temporary exception to those requirements in the interests of further evaluating whether partial remote work assignments, as provided under this regulation, may promote an efficient and effective work environment that provides flexibility and meets the needs of attracting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce. DEFINITIONS As used in this policy, the terms and phrases listed below shall have the following meanings: The term “Remote Work Arrangement” refers to an arrangement by which an employee is authorized, permitted or directed to perform a portion of their job duties and responsibilities from their home or from a location other than the location at which the employee is normally scheduled to work. The term “Essential Personnel” refers to the College President, the members of the President’s Cabinet, personnel that directly report to the College President, the College Provost, or any Regional Campus President, and any other College personnel expressly designated as essential by the College President or any member of the President’s Cabinet. EFFECTIVE DATE July 1, 2021 TERM This regulation shall be in effect commencing as of the Effective Date and continuing through June 30, 2022. This regulation may thereafter be extended, at the sole discretion of the College, based upon its evaluation of degree to which the regulation, as implemented, has achieved its intended purposes.
