BAM | SOUTH | SPECIAL EDITION 2024

“We’re proud of our green initiatives,” says Mayor Adams. “From energy- efficient projects to sustainable urban planning, we’re committed to creating a greener, more resilient community.” The city’s efforts include expanding sewer services to newly incorporated areas and enhancing existing infrastructure to meet modern environmental standards. Climate change presents challenges for cities worldwide, and Olive Branch is no exception. “We’re taking steps to make our city more resilient to climate-related challenges,” Mayor Adams states. From stormwater management improvements to community education initiatives, the city is preparing for the impacts of a changing climate. “It’s about protecting our residents and ensuring a sustainable future,” he adds. Giving the Community a Voice and Infrastructure Improvements Community involvement is a cornerstone of Mayor Adams’ leadership. “When I was elected in 2021, I created several advisory committees to give residents a voice in our city’s development plans,” he says. These committees, which focus on areas like parks and recreation, senior services, city beautification, homeowners’ associations, and more, provide valuable input and ensure that the city’s growth reflects the needs and desires of its residents. “Our community’s input is critical,” Mayor Adams emphasizes. “It helps guide our decisions and ensures that we’re building a city that serves everyone.” 60
