Approach.—This morning I brought a beautiful picture to show to you, and

Sure, a high cliff or hill rising up on one side of the place, and on this side is a lovely stream of water. Now I wanted you to see this picture for we are going to have a story about this picture, and. boys and girls, it is one of the most interesting stories in the Bible, and it shows us what a won derful Saviour we have to watch over and care for us. Prayer. Besson Story.— I wonder if any of you can tell me the name of the man in the picture. Jimmie, who is it? Eli jah. This is rather a strange place for a man to live, and if you will just tell those little ears of yours to be good listeners, I will tell you why Elijah is down here by the brook. The people who lived in this country spent a great deal of their time out-of-doors taking care of sheep and plowing the ground. Elijah’s heart was sad as he went about among these people, because they had stopped praying to God, and were pray ing instead to uglv pieces of wood and stone. The king who was reigning over them was a bad man, and his wife, the queen, was very crue1 and wicked. This wicked king built a house or tem ple, for the idol in one of the cities, and he chose wicked men to stay in the tem ple and offer up sacrifices to the idol, and this wicked king made the people of Israel worship the idol as the heathen nations did. Of course the Lord was greatly displeased with the wicked king, and He sent His faithful prophet. Elijah, to this king to tell him tha: there should not be any more -rain in the land of Israel for years, not until Elijah should ask God to send --rain.
