food to a man sitting by a stream of water? Who will BEGINNERS tell me the story of AND PRIMARY that picture, and Mabel L. Merrill who the man was? Marjorie says it was Elijah, and she is right. How well God took care of His faithful prophet, and kept him hid away from the wicked queen who with her husband the king hunted for Elijah to kill him. Now to day we have another story of Elijah, and this time we find him sitting under a tree, all tired out and wanting to die. Prayer. Lesson Story.— Clara, you tell us what happened up on the mountain in our story last week. (Review the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal.) Boys and girls, you know that was a wonderful day, and I just want to have Elijah tell me of the great time they had that day when God heard Elijah’s prayer and sent down fire from heaven and burned his sacrifice. You know we will meet Elijah up in heaven. When •the king got home that day, he told his wife what had happened to the prophets of Baal, the idol god. The queen was very angry when she heard this, and sent word to Elijah that she would put him to death on the next day. Now when Elijah heard this, he was afraid, and he sat down under the tree to rest, and he asked God to let him die. so that he might go home to heaven, because he was tired of. running away from those who wanted to kil, him. It was wrong for Elijah to ask to die. He should have remembered how God sent him food by the ravens during thé famine, and how He saved him from the wicked

king and the queen, and then he would not have been afraid of the queen, for God could save him from her. Elijah was so tired he fell asleep, and while he was asleep under the trees, an angel came and touched him, and told him to arise and eat. Elijah looked and saw a cake ‘.hat was baked on some coals, and some water to drink. And he ate and drank and lay down and slept again, and the angel came a second time with food for him. After he had eaten, the Lord gave him strength to go on to the place where the Lord had told him to go. Wasn’t that good of. God to send an angel to be a friend to Elijah, for we know he must have felt lonely without father or mother, brother or sister. God will always find a way to help His people, when they trust Him, and He has told us about Elijah and all the others, tp help us to be brave, obedient soldiers all the time, and to remember that the Lord will help us too, just as truly as He helped Elijah. Let us say our memory verse. “ The Lord God will help me.” Boys and girls, let us remember this wherever we may be, that Jesus wants to help us at all times. Closing Prayer.-—Dear Heavenly Fa ther, we thank thee for thy loving watch and care over us, and help us to trust thee every day. ats BLACKBOARD SKETCHES. By Era Hansell. Elijah’s Flight and Return.
