An Epic Oregon Journey With Friends COASTAL MEMORIES
Last March, Jill and I invited our longtime friends, Dr. Dan Munton and his wife Tracy, to join us on a tour of the Oregon Coast, traveling from Portland down to Crescent City, California. It was an incredible trip filled with breathtaking views, fantastic food, and meaningful conversations about faith, family, and baseball. We highly recommend exploring the Oregon Coast — it was a new adventure every day. Along the way, we encountered elk, sea lions, and even a black bear, all set against a rugged coastline, towering redwoods, and stately Ponderosa pines. Since it was March, the mist was constant — so rain gear and boots were standard attire. Some of the highlights included seeing the iconic Haystack Rock in Lincoln City, searching for the famous hand-blown glass floats hidden daily along Yachats Beach, and, of course, walking among the awe-inspiring redwoods. Dan is a board-certified physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, focusing on musculoskeletal rehabilitation and pain management. He has also been involved in sports medicine initiatives, notably founding Texas Sport & Spine in Abilene and partnering with D1 Sports Training to establish the Munton Sports Complex. Dr. Munton is a former college baseball standout himself, and Tracy is a professor of psychology at Collin College, making for great stories and wonderful company throughout the journey.

Perseverance Is Key RELATIONSHIP WITH FAILURE CULTIVATING A DIFFERENT
do. This difference is often the game-changer, distinguishing between good and great. Kobe Bryant said it best, in our opinion: “Failure doesn’t exist. I don’t even know what that means. It is a figment of your imagination. The only way anyone ever really fails is to just stop. To not learn, adjust, or adapt.” Watch those videos. They will change your perspective and possibly your path. Nothing is more influential to long-term success than your relationship with failure and success. In other words, the way most view the problem is their problem. We look forward to being able to help on this journey. We have a couple of options for you this summer. OPTION NO.1: In just three days this summer, you can get a comprehensive, personalized plan you can take home and put to work immediately. It’s waiting for you at our Elite Pitchers Boot Camp. Space is limited to only 32 athletes and many of this year’s dates are filling up fast, so don’t delay securing your spot. Go to TexasBaseballRanch.com/elite-pitchers-bootcamp to learn more and register. OPTION NO. 2: In 2–10 weeks this summer, get your personalized plan and train with us longer to “sharpen your saw” and develop your specific skills and abilities. It’s waiting for you at our Summer Intensive Developmental Program. Reserve your spot now. For more information, go to TexasBaseballRanch. com/events/tbr-summer-program . OPTION NO. 3: Attend a 3-day Elite Pitchers Boot Camp and add one week of the Summer Program immediately after the camp for seven total training days. This has become a popular option for people who want more of The Ranch but have time constraints. Call our office at ( 936) 588-6762 if you want more information on this option. We’re here to help in any way we can. When the time is right for you, we’ll be here.
This month kicks off our “Summer Intensive Development Program,” as is our tradition; we start every day with a mindset to get the group locked into and aligned with the work that needs to be accomplished for the day. One of our themes was “Developing a Different Relationship With Failure.” We selected two mindset videos for the theme: “The Super Mario Effect” by Mark Rober and “Failure Doesn’t Exist” by Kobe Bryant. Both videos can be found on YouTube. In our opinion, this topic is the single most critical topic we can cover for most of our clients at the Ranch. It is way more impactful than, let’s say, “Mechanics,” “Velocity Enhancement,” “Command,” or “Pitch Design.” While those topics are important and impactful, they lack in comparison to persistence and perseverance.
We are ALL going to fail.
We are all going to fail often.
How we respond to failure, setbacks, obstacles, and challenges is ultimately what determines our level of accomplishment. Regardless of the area, elite performers almost universally have a different relationship with failure than the rank and file

PUDGE RODRIGUEZ SETS MLB RECORD BEHIND THE PLATE This Month in Baseball History As baseball videos go, a 2003 clip of Florida Marlins Catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez going mano-a-mano at home plate with the San Francisco Giants’ J.T. Snow is hard to beat. Snow was rounding third in Game 4 of the National League Divisional Series when Rodriguez fielded a throw from left field and squared off at home. In a bruising collision, Rodriguez tagged Snow, rolled backward, and leaped up as his teammates mobbed him to celebrate. That play advanced the young team to their first World Series win. In June 2009, Rodriguez surpassed Carlton Fisk’s record for catching the most games in MLB history by finishing his 2,227th game, a record that still stands. Rodriguez successfully threw out an astonishing 46% of runners trying to steal bases. The Hall of Famer was named the American League MVP in 1999 and finished his career with 13 Gold Gloves. We don’t chase command — we develop it by showing athletes how to embed flexibility, intention, and precision into every throw they make. 6. WE INSTILL A GROWTH MINDSET THAT LASTS A LIFETIME. Our athletes learn to embrace discomfort, welcome change, and relentlessly pursue growth — on the field and off. It’s not just training; it’s transformation. Join us for Coach Wolforth’s Webinar, “The Velocity Code — 3 Secrets to Throwing Hard and Staying Healthy!” In this free training , Coach Wolforth will show you • A new approach to velocity enhancement • How to increase throwing speed with less added risk • The three key secrets that separate elite pitchers from the rest To receive your invitation, please email info@TexasBaseballRanch. com . Water Fun for the Whole Family MAKE A SPLASH!
Few outdoor activities are more fun to do as a family than beating the heat in the water. A facility as simple as a community pool can offer fun for all ages, including wading, diving, and lap swimming. As summer gets underway, consider making plans to try more complex aquatic sports as a family. Here are four exciting options that will inspire the whole family to take the plunge. STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING This sport originated among Hawaiian surfers and began gaining momentum nationwide about a decade ago. Participants stand upright on a flat, buoyant board and propel themselves over lakes, rivers, and oceans with a single paddle. Paddleboards are bigger than
surfboards and are stable enough to hold a picnic in a waterproof bag! SNORKELING Snorkeling is a great family activity for all ages if you’re vacationing near an ocean. Flippers, watertight goggles, and snorkels are easy to rent or buy. Exploring the wonders beneath the waves is as easy as floating on the surface and paddling your flippers. While any clear ocean waters can be fun to explore, consider trekking to Hawaii or Cozumel to see spectacular schools of fish and rock formations. CANOEING AND KAYAKING Few aquatic activities offer more opportunities for reflection and quiet conversation than paddling a canoe or kayak. These watercraft are usually
available to rent near lakes and rivers, and, barring rough weather, navigating with them is relatively safe and easy. Pack a picnic, explore, and see what you can find along a river or lakeshore. WATERSKIING While this sport requires access to a speedboat and a skilled operator, arranging to try it can offer unforgettable thrills. Nothing can compare to the exhilaration as you first rise above the waves and stand on your skis; participants also get a full-body workout! Waterskiing poses a challenge for beginners when crossing the wake and keeping their legs beneath them, but the rewards are worth the effort!
