KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design • Develop design awareness in relation to healthcare planning, in alignment with Trust estate strategy, to fit-out adaptable base buildings (delivered by the Director of Estate Development) to meet the Trust’s clinical ambitions. • Develop design standards to be applied in all fit-outs, refurbishments and new builds that are agreed with senior executive colleagues that will ensure effective maintenance and control of completed schemes after handover. • Oversee the design of ‘standard room’ specification to be adopted as the functional Trust standard to promote flexibility, modernisation and off site manufacture during construction and in occupation. • Ensure Trust capital investments are environmentally sustainable to the standard set in the Trust’s sustainability strategy with stretching targets for reduction in carbon emissions. • Ensure all fit-outs, refurbishments and new builds meet required technical standards and specifications. • Develop and oversee the application of high quality design standards throughout the design and delivery of all capital investments ensuring agreed standards are delivered and projects handed over effectively to the operational team for effective management. • Ensure that appropriate strategies, plans, delivery and implementation frameworks are in place to ensure that an excellent environment for patient care is maintained at all times. Capital Delivery • In conjunction with relevant stakeholders, co-ordinate and prepare a cost-effective capital programme for approval that supports clinical activity and aspirations as appropriate. • Oversee the efficient delivery of the capital programme from scheme design to scheme implementation, ensuring effective project management of capital projects, with stakeholder engagement and patient involvement. • Manage the performance of the capital projects delivery team to ensure transparency and Accuracy in project reporting in relation to procurement, budget control and timelines.
