Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate
CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) The America Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) course prepares students to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) provide basic physical and emotional care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. CNAs work in a variety of settings, including nursing homes, assisted living centers, and home health agencies. This 3-month program includes theory, hands-on instruction, and 30 hours of clinical training at a hospital and assisted living facility. Students will learn body systems, disease and infection control, legal and ethical issues, nutrition, and personal care skills. They will also learn how to assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, assessments and care planning, mental health and sub-acute care, and resident safety. This program will assist students in preparing for the State of Georgia Nurse Aide Competency Examination. Exam is included in tuition. Tuition also includes American Heart Association BLS and Heartsaver® First Aid training. EKG Technician Certificate EKG technicians perform electrocardiograms, which are used to diagnose cardiac problems. They are a critical member of the patient care team in physician offices, emergency rooms, and hospital-based cardiology clinics. This 7-week certificate program will teach you the anatomy of the cardiovascular system, electrophysiology, lead placement, types of rhythms, AV blocks, and myocardial infarction. You will also learn the basics of HIPAA security and privacy as it relates to the profession. Hands-on training in 12-lead EKG placement, heart rate calculation, and rhythm strip interpretation are also performed. This program will assist you in preparing for the National Healthcareer Association Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam.
