BALANCING LIFE WITH PASSION Elizabeth’s 3 Years of Thriving
Working alongside people who genuinely care about empowering each other and making a difference in clients’ lives has given me the sense of purpose I’ve always wanted. Working in an environment where I’m supported personally and professionally is a gift that fulfills me every day. Of course, doing meaningful work doesn’t always mean it’s easy. I constantly think about how we can better support our clients, create smoother systems, and continue growing as a team. Leads don’t stop coming in just because it’s a weekend, and life doesn’t come with a pause button. But I’ve learned that even the tough moments feel manageable when surrounded by the right people. One thing that differentiates The Button Law Firm is how we truly live by our core values. Russell and Ashley have built a culture where balance isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we actively protect. That means having each other’s backs, creating room to rest, and designing systems to make that possible. One of the initiatives I’m proudest of is helping launch our after-hours intake system. It’s part of our broader Intake Success System and ensures we never miss a lead or a client’s needs, even outside regular office hours. We’ve also emphasized cross-training between departments, which has been a game-changer. If someone’s out, the work keeps flowing, and no one feels like they’re drowning. That kind of planning creates
space for people to breathe, take care of themselves, and return recharged.
Outside the office, I’ve been learning to take care of myself. Baking has become a creative outlet that helps me reset and slow down in the best way. I’ve become a bit of a plant mom. I name my houseplants after women who inspire me, like Dolly Parton and Rep. Jasmine Crockett. It’s a small thing, but it reminds me to stay rooted and resilient. I love to unwind with a good show. Lately, I’ve been watching “Severance” on Apple TV+ and “The White Lotus” on HBO Max. Admittedly, I enjoy indulging in guilty pleasure reality TV! The Button Law Firm has been more than just a job for me; it’s been a place of growth and discovery. I’ve learned to be a better leader, team member, and version of myself.
Growing up, I always had this feeling that I was meant to do something meaningful, but I couldn’t have told you what that was. I never had a clear-cut answer to the classic “What do you want to be when you grow up?” question. But I knew one thing for sure: I wanted to make an impact. I wanted my work, whatever it was, to matter. Over the past 3 years, I’ve been ironing out my role as COO and truly learning what it means to be a leader. The mentorship I’ve received here has been transformative. I’ve learned how to lead with purpose and empathy. Russell once told me, “Leadership isn’t about doing it all yourself; it’s about empowering others to rise alongside you.” That perspective has been a guiding light as I’ve grown into my role.
Balancing life with passion isn’t always easy, but it’s absolutely possible with the right people by your side and the right systems in place. Thanks to everyone at the firm for helping me realize my purpose and for being such an extraordinary and supportive team. Most importantly, thanks to our clients for letting us be your sounding board and for entrusting us to be your partners in receiving the justice you deserve. –Elizabeth Bauman

THE FACES THAT INSPIRE US A Simple Tradition, a Reflection of Purpose
As you walk through The Button Law Firm’s office, you’ll discover something unique and personal: a wall filled with framed photos of our team alongside the clients we’ve had the honor of helping.
We call it the Client Wall , and it’s a daily reminder of the lives we’ve impacted.
A TRADITION ROOTED IN CORE VALUES About 5 years into The Button Law Firm’s journey, Russell had a simple but meaningful idea to start taking photos with the clients we help and displaying them at BLF’s office. “Each photo is a story,” he says. “It’s a reminder of the trust our clients put in us and the responsibility we have to fight for them. We started it to reflect on the lives we were helping, and it quickly became one of our favorite traditions.” This wall isn’t just about the wins — it’s about connection . At BLF, our core values — making a difference, family and team, and believing in better — guide everything we do. They remind us why we show up every day: to fight for families, support our community, and keep raising the standard for what justice should look like. A GROWING WALL, A GROWING IMPACT Since we started this tradition, we’ve surpassed a decade of serving families across Texas and beyond. With that growth came more stories and more lives impacted. Every framed photo represents a moment shared — a face-to- face meeting, a meaningful conversation, and a fight for justice that led to a life-changing result. These images remind us that behind every case is a person whose life we have had the honor of impacting, and we are committed to making a difference, one family at a time. “There’s nothing more powerful than walking by a wall full of people we’ve helped and knowing we made a difference in their lives. What started as a small gesture has become part of our identity and keeps us motivated and grateful,” Russell shares. SENDING LOVE BACK TO OUR CLIENTS This tradition has brought us so much joy that we decided to send each client a framed copy of the photo as a thank you and keepsake to remember the journey we took together. It’s our way of saying, “We see you. We’re proud to have walked this journey with you. And we won’t forget it.” Clients have told us how much they appreciate the gesture; some have even shared where their photo hangs in their homes.
As BLF continues to grow, so will the wall. We’re proud of what it represents — and even prouder of the people in those frames.
The Client Wall isn’t about legal victories; it’s about human stories, lasting impact, and the belief that what we do matters. It reminds us we’re not just practicing law — we’re building relationships, changing lives, and standing with people during their toughest moments.
Here’s to the next wall … and the next chapter.

STRAPPED TO A CHAIR IN CHILDCARE A Tale of Mistreatment and Mending
A daycare facility should be a place of safety and security for a child, not the site of unimaginable abuse and neglect. Early last year, a 1-year-old girl, Susan*, was repeatedly subjected to harrowing experiences that no child of any age should ever be forced to endure. On multiple occasions, daycare employees strapped her to a chair for long periods as a form of punishment, leaving anyone with a heart to wonder what on Earth a young girl of her age could have done to deserve this cruelty. This situation was even more disturbing because the straps used to restrain her were not provided by the manufacturer for safety purposes but instead supplied to the employees by the daycare facility.
In addition to failing to train employees on proper discipline and supervision, the facility neglected to supervise its employees’ conduct. Most tragically, these inexcusable inactions severely affected Susan’s well- being and interaction with others. She experienced night terrors for weeks following the incidents, and she has developed a fear of chairs and an intense mistrust of caregivers. She has also been known to hit herself and others in moments of frustration and frequently isolates herself from other children. These traits are classic signs of child mistreatment, and Susan has gone from being a happy little girl to throwing tantrums and lashing out in other ways. The childcare facility’s negligence and legal violations were evident, and liability was clear. Although we couldn’t take away
Susan’s experience and its effect on her and her loved ones, we successfully obtained a life-changing result that will help this little girl and her family focus on healing. No childcare facility should ever allow what happened. Sadly, we see and handle similar situations every day. Nothing is more important to us than seeking justice for children who have been harmed through abuse and neglect. We stand with families, providing the support, guidance, and determination needed to help them find the peace they deserve.
Susan’s situation reflects multiple failures by those who should have provided care.

WHERE CREATIVITY MEETS PERSONAL INJURY LAW UT Dallas Students Visit The Button Law Firm
At The Button Law Firm, we’re often immersed in the legal complexities of serious car wrecks, including insurance disputes, liability questions, and medical records. Recently, we looked outside the legal lens and considered these cases from a more creative, human- centered perspective. A graduate- and Ph.D.-level creative writing class from the University of Texas at Dallas visited our office as part of their semester- long study on transit and transportation. The students’ course explores how people
experience movement through public infrastructure and private vehicles and the consequences that can unfold on the road. As they dove into these themes, the class sought out conversations with people who see the aftermath of transportation systems up close. This interest led them to BLF. Russell Button welcomed the group into our Dallas office and spoke about what happens after a serious car crash. He walked them through the legal process step by step, highlighting what victims go through — physically, emotionally, and financially — when a wreck derails their lives. The
that revealed the human impact behind every case — the pain, resilience, and fight for justice that often go unseen. Hearing how trauma, recovery, and justice play out in real life helped these students ground their creative work in lived experience. For us, it was a powerful reminder of how storytelling — whether in court or verse — can shape how people understand the impact of a crash. The visit sparked meaningful conversations around empathy, justice, and the long- term effects of transit-related trauma. We’re incredibly grateful to the UT Dallas students and faculty for bringing their curiosity, compassion, and creative insight into our space. We look forward to seeing how their ongoing work elevates these critical stories. Whether through a legal case or a piece of writing, these voices deserve to be heard.
conversation touched on everything from insurance
battles and litigation delays to the slow, difficult path to healing.
To illustrate just how personal these stories can be, Russell shared real client experiences
