The Secret to Successful Resolutions Health and Happiness in 2019
TextNow that the holidays are over, it’s time to take a breath and look to the future. I know I’m not the only one who overindulged a little during the holidays. For me, the new year is a time when I buckle down and start focusing on building healthy habits again. My biggest goal for 2019 is to maintain a strong work-life balance. This means focusing on continuing education courses so I can improve my skills and better serve my patients every day, and making my overall health a priority so I can be there for my family.
“You have to start by looking at what you want to improve and determining how you can make that work in your life.”
from yoga and cardio to dance and strength training. You can pick the
workout you want to do, and a trainer walks you through the whole thing. It’s a great way to get a good workout in the comfort of your own home. There are so many options out there, so you are sure to find something that works for you whether it be a gym membership, outdoor activities, or working out at home. Though these tricks have helped me, it’s important to remember that there’s no surefire strategy guaranteed to make exercising or changing your habits easier. You have to start by looking at what you want to improve and determining how you can make that work in your life. For me, I knew the best way to get in a daily workout would be by waking up earlier and working out first thing in the morning. Waiting until after work isn’t an option. The office is open until 5 p.m., so I don’t usually get home until around 6 p.m. I want to spend time with my family and play with my kids. It’s not much of a work-life balance if I miss out on family time because I’m at the gym. The new year is a time for growth and opportunity. Whatever your goals are for 2019, I wish you the best of luck. Have a Happy New Year!
Exercise is a big goal for many people at the beginning of the new year. I’m proud to report that last year I was pretty successful in establishing a morning exercise routine. One great trick I’ve learned for exercising in the morning is to sleep in my workout clothes. Running shorts and yoga pants are as comfortable as pajamas. When my alarm goes off in the morning, I just need to put on my socks and shoes, grab my Fitbit, and I’m good to go. Wearing my workout clothes to bed makes it so much easier to get going in the morning, and a study published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology found that you’re more likely to exercise if you’re already dressed for a workout. Another way I make sure I’m exercising every day is by working out at home. I enjoy weightlifting and cardio, and I’ve discovered you don’t have to go to a gym to get in a good workout, thanks to an online workout subscription. It’s like Netflix for exercise videos. By signing up, you get access to hundreds of workout videos for all kinds of exercise programs,
