A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7
It has been a very busy half term and I’d like to congratulate Year 7 for the way they have settled into school life and thrown themselves into a variety of activities with enthusiasm and a very positive approach. This week it was lovely to see the Year 10 reading buddies listening and supporting some of the year group at lunch on Tuesday, enjoying books together as part of our paired reading scheme. Today we saw a great turn out of Pink outfits as Year 7 took part in Pink day, helping to raise money for Breast Cancer Charities - donations can still be made via ParentPay. They had lots of fun dressing up and showing off their pink outfits.
The half term tutor group standings for Epraise are as follows: 3rd 7FLY, 2nd 7PCO and in 1st place are 7PFO. Well done and keep up the hard work to earn even more Epraise next half term.
Here is the much awaited match report from our victory in the Year 7/8 football match v Teddington last week. On Thursday, 17th, our Waldegrave Wanderers took to the pitch for an exciting football match that showcased great skill and teamwork. Every player gave their all, working together with determination and intensity. Sa- keena scored the decisive, winning goal, skillfully navigating past a sea of defenders. Stella, our other Player of the Match, demonstrated composure under pressure and expertly controlled the defensive play. Congratula- tions to the team on a well-deserved victory and for keeping our winning streak alive!
Celebrating success in a different area, I want to say well done to Prisca C (7ESU) for achieving a merit in her Grade 5 Piano exam.
We hope Year 7 all have a relaxing and enjoyable half-term, they certainly deserve it. Finally a reminder that we return to school after half term on Wednesday 6 November.
MRS BASHFORD-HYNES, HEAD OF YEAR 7
BOOK OF THE MONTH
Northern Lights by Philip Pullman
The first book of a majestic fantasy trilogy, Northern Lights introduces readers to the bold heroine, Lyra. Set in a sideways world, where everyone has a daemon in animal form, the story opens with the ominous news that children are going missing, which begins Lyra’s quest for knowledge.
This is a magical book, which is wonderful to read together with children, perhaps paired with the relatively recent BBC adaptation.
