The History of Abraham Lincoln’s Grandchildren in Iowa Hills Bank in Washington (2481 Hwy 92 E) Wednesday, May 16, 1:00 p.m.

In the fall of 1868, Miss Mary Harlan, daughter of Senator and Mrs. James Harlan of Iowa, was united in marriage to Mr. Robert Todd Lincoln, eldest son of the former President Abraham and his wife, Mary Lincoln. The family made their home in Chicago but Mary Harlan Lincoln loved bringing her children to their maternal grandparents’ home in Mt. Pleasant. The three children, two girls and a boy, were the only grandchildren of both the Harlans and the Lincolns. The children enjoyed the freedom afforded by the Henry County town during lazy summer days and throughout the year. Join speaker Paul Juhl as he recollects the lives and experiences of Lincoln’s grandchildren through stories and photographs. Light refreshments will be served. Register with a Friends Club representative at 319-863-7805 or Elaine_Moore@HillsBank.com.
