Y8 Bulletin 25.10.24

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 8

We have had a fantastic final week of the term and Year 8 have continued to impress both myself and their teachers. It has been a very busy first half of this Autumn term with Drop Down Day, Open Morn- ing tours, sporting events, our wonderful kindness activities and much more. It has been great to see so many Year 8 students getting involved so enthusiastically! This half term 8 EDA has taken the top spot on the epraise leaderboard, followed closely behind by 8SHU and 8PIR . Congratulations to those forms and all of our students who have achieved epraise points this half term. Well done to our Year 8 Football Team who showed great teamwork joining with Year 7 and secured a 1 - 0 win against Teddington School! Another great display of teamwork and determination was shown by the Year 8/9 Rugby Team in their first match of the season against St Richard Reynolds School. The team demonstrated skill and determination with a magnificent final score of 85 -15. Well done to all the players. I am sure everyone is looking forward to the half-term break. Students are due to return to school on Wednesday 6th November. We encourage you to remind your children about the key expectations around uniform, lanyards and chrome books. This will enable Year 8 to put their best foot forward and continue in the same positive way that they have started the school year.

MRS LYDDON, HEAD OF YEAR 8

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Northern Lights by Philip Pullman

The first book of a majestic fantasy trilogy, Northern Lights introduces readers to the bold heroine, Lyra. Set in a sideways world, where everyone has a daemon in animal form, the story opens with the ominous news that children are going missing, which begins Lyra’s quest for knowledge.

This is a magical book, which is wonderful to read together with children, perhaps paired with the relatively recent BBC adaptation.
