“I PLAN TO DEVOTE A GREAT DEAL OF ENERGY TOWARD CLEANING UP SOME OF THE NONSENSE ASSOCIATED WITH OUR PLEDGE LINES ON OUR COLLEGE CAMPUSES. MY FIRST EXECUTIVE ORDER WILL BE TO OUTLINE SOME SPECIFIC ITEMS PERTAINING TO PLEDGING, WHICH MUST AND WILL BE ENFORCED ”

Grand Polemarch McBride uplifted the families of the incoming administrations, honoring their forthcoming sacrifices and recognizing their vital role in supporting the Fraternity’s mission.

McBride’s additional achievements as Grand Polemarch: • Chaired the final winter Conclave with the 70th Grand Chapter Meeting held in December 1989 as the Fraternity permanently transitioned from an 18-month to a 24-month schedule for Grand Chapter Meetings • Oversaw the dedication and opening of the International Headquarters (IHQ) facility in Philadelphia • Chartered 17 undergraduate and 18 alumni chapters during his administration • Appointed a new Kappa Alpha Psi Journal Editor and interim IHQ Executive Director and • Established a Kappa Political Action Committee

• Polemarch, Beta Phi Chap- ter (1953-1955) • Polemarch, Atmore (AL) Alumni Chapter (1969-1975) • Polemarch, Southern Province (1975-1982) • Member, Grand Board of Directors (1982-1985) • Senior Grand Vice Polemarch (1985-1988) A Life Member of the Fraternity, McBride was a Charter Member of the Theta Delta and Atmore (AL) Alumni Chapters and led Atmore Alumni as its inaugural Polemarch.

In August 1988 at the 68th Grand Chapter Meeting held in Dallas, TX, the Grand Chap- ter of Kappa Alpha Psi elected Dr. McBride as its 26th Grand Polemarch. McBride on his election, “I was initiated into the Fraternity as a (second semester) freshman, and at my first (chapter) meeting I was elected lieutenant strategus. I knew then that I didn’t get any better than that feeling. The feeling I’ve got right now (as newly elected Grand Polemarch) is a lot like

that excitement I felt after being initiated and then elected lieutenant strate- gus of my undergraduate chapter.” As Grand Polemarch, Dr. McBride introduced to the membership his “Initia- tives for Operation 2000,” which he believed moved Kappa Alpha Psi forward
