Nicholas B. Aubespin 1940–2024 Educator, Coach, U.S. Army

Medicine. He was a past president of the Society of Behavioral Medicine and was President-Elect of the Federation of Associations in the Behavioral and Brain Sciences. In addition to publish- ing dozens of scientific articles, Anderson was the author and editor of several books, including serving as editor-in-chief of the two-volume Ency- clopedia of Health and Behavior (2003) and as co-editor of Interdisci- plinary Research: Case Studies from Health and Social Science (2008). He was editor-in-chief of APA’s flagship journal American Psychologist for over 12 years. He also was senior editor of the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Global Public Health. Anderson had been accepted at the San Fran- cisco Theological Seminary to pursue training in the art and practice of spiritual direction/companionship. Anderson was a member of the Washington (DC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Sigma Pi Phi Frater- nity, Inc. Brother Norman Anderson is survived by his wife of more than 37 years, Elizabeth, and his extended family. ♦

N icholas B. Aubespin (Gamma Psi 1960) transitioned to the Chapter Invisible on August 6, 2024, at 84. Born on May 14, 1940, in Opelousas, LA, he was the cherished son of the late Earnest and Augusta (Auzenne) Aubespin. A graduate of J.W. Clark High School (Class of 1958), Aubespin attended Grambling State University on a baseball scholarship, earning a B.A. in physical education in 1962 and later an M.A. in supervision and instruction from Southern University in 1974. Aubespin started his dis- tinguished teaching career at Holy Rosary Institute in Lafayette, LA, before serving two years in the U.S. Army. He dedicated 33 years to the Orleans Parish School Board as a physical education teacher and coach, primarily at McDon- ald #28, until his retirement in 1998. As a committed United Teachers of New Orleans member, he sup- ported collective bargaining

efforts. He served on the board of directors of the United Teachers of New Orleans Credit Union. A Lifetime Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Aubespin was a stalwart member of the New Orle- ans (LA) Alumni Chapter, serving with distinction as polemarch and vice polemarch. His contribu- tions extended to various organizations, including the Inseparable Friends Benev- olent Society, the Knights of “AUBESPIN WAS A STALWART MEMBER OF THE NEW ORLEANS (LA) ALUMNI CHAPTER, SERVING WITH DISTINCTION ”

Peter Claver, and the Holy Name Society. Known for his hospitality, the Aubespin home became a welcoming gathering place for family and friends, especially after relocating to Humble, TX, following Hurricane Katrina. Brother Nicholas B. Aubespin is survived by his devoted wife, Betty; his beloved daughters, Jennifer and Christe; his treasured granddaughter, Jasmine; his brothers, Fr. Stanley Fran- cis Borgia and John Jacob (Fannie); and his in-laws, Dolores (Melvin), Diane (Bernard), and Alexander. He also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cherished friends. Nicholas Aubespin will forever be remembered for his kindness, dedication to education, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community. His legacy of service and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. ♦
