D avid L. Henderson, Sr. (Delta Zeta 1965) entered the Chapter Invisible on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in Dayton, OH. David Louis Henderson born February 2,1945 in Dayton, Ohio to the late John William Hender- son Sr. and Mary Esther Henderson. Henderson attended Dayton’s Roos- evelt High School where he played football and basketball. After graduat- ing high school in 1964, Henderson attended Cen- tral State (OH) University on a football scholarship. He graduated with a bache- lor’s degree in industrial arts education. Henderson later earned a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Dayton. Henderson spent 35 years as an educator and administrator in the Dayton (OH) Public School System. Hender- son impacted the lives of hundreds of youths across the city in his roles as teacher, principal, and dean
of students. In addition to his vocation as an educator, Henderson also served his community as a swim instructor for Operation Safeguard at Roth Day Camp and as a counselor for the West Dayton Boys and Girls Club. In 2016, the Montgomery County Juvenile Courts recognized Henderson for his mentor as part of the Reclaiming Futures Program. Hen- derson also worked as an insurance agents and men- toring his former students to enter the insurance industry. Alpha Psi Fraternity, Hen- derson was a member of the Dayton (OH) Alumni Chapter. He also held memberships at the Phil- lips Temple CME Church and in The Compatible Couples Club. Brother David L. Hen- derson was preceded in death by his sisters, Eloise Edmerson and Marilyn (William) Parker. He is survived his wife of 50 years, the former Karen Daniels; sons, David (Heather) Henderson Jr. and Cris (Shatawn) Henderson Sr.; grand- children, Kiara (Rodnie) Davidson, Alexis Hender- son, and Cris Henderson Jr.; great-grandson, Kyrie Davidson; brothers, John (Frenchie) Henderson Jr. (Sigma 1962), and Paul Henderson; sisters, Krista (Charles) Garcia-Jones, and Kendra (Joe) Garcia; and host of relatives and friends. ♦
R etired educator Wil- liam A. Peete (Alpha Theta 1968) entered the Chapter Invisible on May 14, 2024. William Arthur Peete born on February 15, 1949 to the late Claudie B. and Emma (née Harvey) Peete in Tipton County TN. Peete was curious about all things and enjoyed learn- ing. His first ten-years of education were spent at the segregated Public School, George R. Ellis. Due to his high scholastic Achieve- ments, Peete was selected
to attend the all-white, Munford High School
for the purpose of school desegregation in 1965. He was a pioneer for breaking the “Color Barrier” in the South. Peete persevered in a challenging environment to graduate from high school with honors and won various awards.
