A ROLLER COASTER RIDE OF TERROR

going at full force that entire time, jumping, running, and lifting other human beings. I’ve seen my fair share of wrestlers cry. But I always strive to have fun in the ring and lose myself in the athleticism and pageantry. Since I’m an independent wrestler, I do not have an exclusive contract, and I can travel and wrestle anywhere they’ll will have me. The pay isn’t always the best, but I’ve advanced beyond the literal hot dog and handshake compensation of my earliest days. Along the way, I keep making connections that allow me to break into new markets, learn new techniques, and hone my craft. I’ve spent a lot of time touring with the Heavenly Butterflies tag team across the South, and I can’t thank them enough for the skills they’ve taught me and the opportunities they’ve brought my way. One of the greatest gifts of my wrestling career is seeing my videos and performances motivate other people. High school classmates and even strangers have told me I’ve inspired them to get fit or follow their own dreams. I am a public figure in my own way, so I have to carry myself like one because others are watching. I take that responsibility seriously, but my ultimate goal is to give it my all and show fans a good time. If I’ve accomplished that, I’ve done my job well. — Truman Hudson III (TH3)

BUSCH GARDENS’ HOWL-O- SCREAM EXTRAVAGANZA

Kids get costumes, trick-or-treating, and school parties. But where can adults who want to indulge in some horrifying Halloween antics turn? Try Howl-O- Scream at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, the premier Tampa Bay Halloween celebration ranked by USA Today readers as one of the top 3 Halloween theme park events in the country. Howl-O-Scream began on Sept. 9 and will run on select dates through Oct. 31. It’s intended only for adults and starts at 7 p.m., with plenty of time for the youngsters to clear out of the park. Be warned there will be depictions of violence, blood, and gore, so steer clear if that’s not your cup of tea. But if over a dozen terrifying attractions sound like your idea of a fun night, buckle up for a wild ride. One of the top draws of Howl-O-Scream is the array of haunted houses on offer. There will be five dotting the park this year, each staffed by professional actors and telling a different scary story. Whether you’re the type to enjoy vampires, werewolves, witches, or ghosts, the park has you covered. Just be prepared for a few things to go bump in the night! Attendees will also experience several “scare zones” as they wander from one attraction to the next. Sections of the park will transform into open wonderlands of fright. You’ll explore corn mazes, dark forests, junkyards, cemeteries, and more. Creepy characters will likely surprise you inside the scare zones or other portions of the park. Be on alert! Once you’ve had enough of jumping out of your skin, you can take in one of the many shows on offer. You’ll find a rock band, dance party, or the Cirque X-Scream aerial show. A new interactive stage show will also premiere this year. Audience members will decide their fate in front of a sinister showman but soon find that he’s the one holding all the cards. After all of that, who needs the roller coasters? If you do, they and the other rides will be open all night! It may be impossible to see all of the sights in one evening. So, attendees can purchase passes for Howl-O-Scream’s entire run or tickets for just one night. Get yours at BuschGardens.com/tampa/events/ howl-o-scream and prepare for a fright!
