words. The wise man in Proverbs says, “ Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” The sin of addition to the Word of God is also com mon. Some add tradition to the Bible. Some add the revelation which certain persons claim to have received from heaven. Some add personal misinterpretations. Add thou not! T he T hird S in Third, Eve was guilty of the sin of alteration. She said, “ Lest ye die.” God had said, “ Thou shalt surely die.” Peter, in speaking about people like this in his day, said, in effect, “ They that are unlearned and unstable wrest [twist and alter] the scriptures unto their own de struction.” Both Satan and Eve used the word God, but they left out the redemptive name of God, that is, “ Lord.” There are many people today who sweetly talk about Jesus, but they deny the deity of Christ. There is a vast difference between “ the Jesus way” and the Christ who said, “ I am the way, . . . No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Character does not redeem. Belief in God saves no one. The demons believe in God and trem ble. Trust Christ. “ He that honoureth not the Son hon- oureth not the Father which hath sent him.” L essons From these utterances, we learn certain lessons. First, we need to take heed what we hear. Many persons read and listen to anything. “ Can a man take fire into his bosom and his clothing not be burned?” That which passes through the mind makes a lasting impression. Un truth defiles any brain. Error will cause any intellect to rot. Impurity will destroy moral and spiritual power. The Christian is not permitted to listen to every one nor to read everything that comes his way. Second, we need to take heed how we hear. Had Adam and Eve listened unto God believingly and prayerfully, they would not have listened to the subtle insinuations of the serpent. Third, we need to take heed whom we hear. I do not believe that a true believer ought to listen habitually to the utterances of false teachers and preachers. “ Beware lest any man spoil you [make you his prey] through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments [religious rites] o f the world, and not after Christ.” “ This I say, lest any man beguile [deceive] you with enticing words.” We need to keep in mind the exhortation of Isaiah: “ To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Fourth, the Bible has come down to us without a chap ter effaced, without a miracle deleted, without a parable destroyed, without a chronological table disarranged, with out a historical fact changed—and this in spite of the fact that the Word of God has been the object of attack for thousands of years. No other book could have stood be fore the fierce hatred which has been heaped upon the Word of .God for millenniums. Let us not fear for the Word. The words of men come to birth. A few of them develop to maturity and enjoy a fleeting popularity, but in time they die and are buried. The Word of God endures forever. Fifth, the only weapon which can succeed against Satan is the Word of God. Try the Sword of the Spirit. Christ used it. Therefore, “ study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The Bible Christian is thor oughly prepared for every emergency.

A New Department Beginning with the March issue, a new depart ment will be added to T he K ing ’ s B usiness . Its significant title will be “ In the Jewish World.” Wonderful changes are taking place in the hearts of the Jewish people and in the land which the covenant-keeping God promised to them years ago. The absorbingly interesting information, which this department will con tain, will be gathered by Rev. J. A. Vaus, direc tor of the Jewish Missions Course at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles.

T he S econd U tterance In John 8:44, Christ declares that Satan is a liar and the father of lies. The father o f liars has many children. “ Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ?” “ Ye shall not surely die,” said Satan (Gen. 3 :4). That is one of the cardinal teachings of popular systems of error. Satan says to youth today, “ Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow ye shall not die. Do not repress, but express. Do not control yourself, but have a good time. You can go so far and no farther.” “ The wages of sin is not death,” continues the tempter. However, cemeteries full of tombstones, seas moaning over the thousands of skeletons, as well as hospitals, insane asylums, and penitentiaries packed with miserable people, and Hades crowded with countless lost souls declare that the devil is a liar. “ The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” “ The wages of sin is death ; but the gift o f God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Let God be found true and every man a liar, as well as the devil. T he T hird U tterance “ For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” (Gen. 3 :5 )./ The devil would substitute an other gospel for the gospel of God. Man today is imitating the devil and, therefore, instead of the supernatural gospel, we find many gospels. Man makes his own God and then bends before the god of his own making. The devotee becomes like the god he has made. We bècome sons o f God by faith in Jesus Christ. The natural man is not a son of God. All true believers, however, may say, “ Now are we the sons o f God.” T he F irst S in Eve responded to the triple temptation of the devil. First, she committed the sin of omission. The woman said to the serpent, “ We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden,” whereas God had said, “ O f every tree of the gar den thou mayest freely eat.” She left out the word “ free ly.” This is a common sin among errorists. They leave out portions of Scripture. They quote part of ‘ a verse. Many separate the text from its context. The Bible is thus made to teach what they want it to teach. Instead of hum bly receiving the plain doctrine o f the Word, they put into the Word that which they want to take out of it. T he S econd S in Second, Eve was guilty of the sin of addition. She added to the Word of God. She said, “ God hath said, Ye shall not eat it neither shall ye touch it.” God had said nothing about touching it. Eve deliberately added these
