Harms), ’25 and ’26, a daugh­ ter, Janette, on Thanksgiving Day, N o­ vember 26. Mr. and Mrs. Bergen are work­ ing under the Home Mission Board o f the Mennonite Church at Ransom, Kan. Married Paul Lorah and Thetus Hadden, ’27. Mr. and Mrs. Lorah were married at the bride’s home in Kentucky on September 16. They are both seniors at Ashland College, Ash­ land, Ohio. Norman C. Gundry, ’30, P. G. ’31, and Lolita Hinshaw, ’31, in Pasadena, Calif., January 2. The ceremony was performed by Dr. Isaac P. Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Gun- dry are looking forward to missionary ser­ vice in Africa. Died Kinji Tashiro, ’31, died at his home in Japan, of typhoid fever. Mr. Tashiro made a splendid record at the Bible Institute, and expected to devote his life to service for the Lord among his own people. "Mrs. Helen Lowman, ’25, passed away at Los Angeles, Calif., on December 16. Carlton D. Lauber, ’27, while a student at the San Francisco Theological Semi­ nary at San Anselmo, Calif., went to be with his Lord. Mr. and Mrs. Lauber had formerly been engaged for several years in missionary work at Ganado, Ariz.

Calif. Mr. Domin is preaching Sunday mornings at Bruceville, in a small church which is kept up by the American Sunday School Union, and Sunday afternoons Mrs. Domin is teaching in a Chinese mission. Rev. and Mrs. Eric E. Swadell (Laura Pim ), ’25, and their three boys are living at Fort Bragg, Calif. Mr. Swadell is pas­ tor o f the First Baptist Church, but he really has six churches under his super­ vision. Rev. John R. Stevenson, T8, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, Daly City, Calif., broadcast a series o f fifteen-minute talks on the Lord’s Prayer over radio sta­ tion KYA . Rev. and Mrs. R. E. Rolens, ’22, Calex­ ico, Calif., are virtually in a foreign field. Only twenty-five per cent o f the population is white. Their church (Baptist) is only four blocks from Old Mexico. Mrs. Ro­ lens is superintendent o f the church school. Mrs. Marie Menhennett, ’22, is in charge o f a community center outstation near Ganado, Ariz., among the Navaho Indians. A New Teacher

Foreign Missionary News red H. and B etty P. M c K enrick are superintending the Bible Institute at Kijabe, Kenya Colony, East Africa, while the superintendent is on furlough. David M. Campbell, ’24, has completed five years o f service in China under the China Inland Mission. “ ‘Poured from ves­ sel to vessel’ pretty well sums them up,” he writes. “A year and a half have been spent in the Training Home and in Shang­ hai, two years at work in the west of this province, a year o f mission survey in Man­ churia, and now six months in this place— and my fifth dialect.” Mr. Campbell is now stationed at Taichowfu, Chekiang. The Inland South America Missionary Union reports that “Mrs. Alex R. Hay is . . . convalescing from her operation in the British hospital at Buenos Aires. The doctors are willing that she should return to Posadas, but she still has to make peri­ odical trips to the hospital for X-ray treatments.” Mr. (T 6) and Mrs. Jason P. Steer and their children are again on the mission field in Bolivia, under the Bolivian Indian Mission. * According to The Bolivian Indian, in Acacio, where the Powlisons and Miss Mina Septer are, the little band o f work­ ers has been having a hard time. Mr. Pow- lison, ’19, has had an illness lasting about seven weeks, from which he is now hap­ pily convalescent. Miss Mina Septer, '20, had plenty to think about, when one end of her house fell out, inconveniencing both herself and her school of over one hun­ dred children. Mrs. Allan and Mr. Ek- dahl, ’18, went over from San Pedro to help when the need seemed extreme. W e are hoping better times have come for Acacio. Giving Forth the Word Roy Clarke, ’29, o f Melbourne, Australia, has been engaged in evangelistic work in Tasmania, using his musical ability to the glory o f God. Souls have been saved, and the Lord has poured out His blessing upon the endeavors put forth. For four years, Herbert H. Donnen- worth, P. G. ’25, has been pastor o f the Evangelical Church at Sterling, Colo. He was recently elected President of the Min­ isterial Association o f Sterling, and is also State Director o f Religious Education for his denomination. For nearly seven years, Edward Roosa has been pastor o f the Baptist Church at Westerlo, N. Y. Rev. Walfred J. Johnson, ’ 18, has ac­ cepted the pastorate o f the Presbyterian Church o f Acton, Calif. Mrs. Johnson was Marian Hall, ’20. William Brieher, ’25, is pastor o f the Evangelical Church of Drake, N. Dak. Mr. and Mrs. William Domin (Gertrude Seamans), ’24, are living at Sacramento,

Mr. E. R. Black, a recent addition to the faculty'of the Bible Institute of. Los Angeles, a popular Bible teacher, is teaching the following subjects in the Institute: Evidences and Criti­ cism, Sunday-school Administration, History o f Christian Missions, Ad­ vanced Biblical Criticism, Christian Interpretation o f Life, Christian Psy­ chology, and Systematic Theology. The Institute is very fortunate in se­ curing his services.
