Hebrew of the Hebrews”) ; the values which were his by right of party affiliation (identified in the interpre tation of the law with the loyally orthodox Pharisees, who, in contrast to the skeptical Sadducees, pre served the hope of Israel in their be lief of the supernatural ) ; the values which were his by right of experi ence (zeal for the cause prompting him to ask on his own initiative (Acts 9:2) for warrants of arrest in his persecution of the church) ; and the values which were his by right of moral integrity (since, measured by the law, he was found blameless). No one can lightly set aside such as sets as these. Together they consti tuted Paul’s position in the world of his day. Whatever a man’s advan tages may be, they avail nothing if he is not in a position to use them. The finest equipment means nothing to the hunter who is not in a position to use his gun when the bird is flushed. We must remember this importance of position in order to appreciate pres ently the advantage which Paul found “in Christ” (v. 9). If you are not receiving copies of die BROADCASTER monthly, you may have them come to your home or office automatically by being a member of the Biola Fellowship. This is a group of faithful donors who invest monthly in the distinctive ministries of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Inc. Specific monthly amounts are not set; this is a matter between you and the Lord. In maintaining this 53 year old work for the Saviour, we have found that faithfulness on the part of God’s stewards is the important thing. You are invited to become co-laborers with us in this vital testimony. The invest ment you make will bring you this publication monthly, hereafter, without your request. If you are already a member of the Fellowship and have received an extra

THE GREAT CHANGE (w . 7-8) In verses 7-8 Paul indicates that there Has been a complete upsetting of his scale of values. Something has happened to revise all former stand ards. “The old things are passed away; behold, they are become new” (2 Cor. 5:17 ASV). The force of the atom bomb was not in its physical vio lence alone, but in the fact that as a new weapon it made previous meth ods of warfare obsolete. The new power in Paul’s life is ut terly devastating to the old way in which he has lived. “Howbeit, what gains I then thought were mine, these have I, after deliberate consideration, set down as loss because of Christ” (Phil. 3:7). The next verse repeats this statement and amplifies it by ex tending it in several directions. He enlarges “such things as were gain to me” to include “all things” ; He ex pands “for Christ” to mean “for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord;” he deepens the con trast by using the word “refuse” (or “offal,” such as might be flung to the dogs) for “loss;” and, finally, he un- copy of this publication, please pass it along to a friend so that he may also enroll in the Plan and receive these helpful monthly features from the broadcasts. Since all materials from the Biola radio programs are included in the BROADCASTER, publication is gen erally completed near the end of the specific month. Your patience is greatly appreciated. □ I would like to become a member of the Biola Fellowship.
