Job Description
3. Sustainability policies and procedures, projects and initiatives, covering University wide themes (Education, Research, Engagement & Leadership, Investment, Operations, Collaboration). Taking a leading role on the management and implementation of said policies, guidance and procedures 4. Take the lead in embedding environmental sustainability into university of Roehampton’s day to day operations, in areas such as procurement, ways of working and structure to ensure environmentally sustainability is built into everything we do 5. Be accountable for the University’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. 6. Manage the delivery and monitoring of the University Roehampton biodiversity action plan. 7. Plan and manage the internal and external sustainability communication activities. 8. Plan, conduct and report research and analysis on internal and external stakeholder needs and expectations for environmental sustainability to support the effectiveness of the engagement programme. 9. Liaise with and lead where needed on various internal and external committees such as Environmental Sustainability Committee or Biodiversity Working Group, to help influence and develop action plans to achieve the strategic aims. 10. Collaboratively research, devise and implement our Carbon Reduction Strategy and ensure it is aligned to government targets and legislative requirements. 11. Lead and prioritise the delivery of the University’s sustainability programme, leveraging the team’s capacity and wider resources, to drive sustainability performance and achievements. Plan, coordinate, and organise the work of the Environmental Sustainability and Energy Management team. 12. Identify external sources of funding available and submit the appropriate funding applications, specifically Salix external funding. 13. Manage the HESA and SCEF data gathering and reporting with the assistance of the Environmental Sustainability and Energy Management team and the Strategic Planning function, ensuring oversight is given by Returns Oversight Group 14. Manage and lead the sustainability team, responsible for the full employee life cycle of events, such as managing absence, recruitment, appraisals and performance reviews and identification of training and development needs. 15. Be an active member of the wider University community being an advocate for environmental sustainability 16. Main purpose of the job: The post holder is based within the Estates Division and will be responsible for managing the Environmental Sustainability and Energy Management team and providing leadership on environmental sustainability across University of Roehampton. They will work closely with the Estates Division, Professional Services, Finance, Recruitment, Academic Faculties/Schools and the Roehampton Students’ Union to drive the delivery of the broad environmental sustainability agenda at University of Roehampton. The post holder will be responsible for operational aspects of environmental sustainability and play a coordinating role in the delivery of the wider university’s Sustainability Strategy, embedding environmental sustainability across all aspects of the university’s activities, through the development and implementation of university wide environmental sustainability projects, initiatives, policies and procedures. The post holder will liaise daily with staff at all levels across the University, as well as students and other stakeholders, acting as the initial point of contact on all environmental sustainability matters.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Manage, plan, coordinate, and organise the work of the Environmental Sustainability and Energy Management team to ensure delivery of energy management objectives including managing utilities spend and carbon reduction plan to ensure delivery of environmental and energy improvements to meet key objectives 2.
