Bursary Appeal 2026

Bursary Appeal 2026

Welcome from the new Master Every Dulwich journey is different. For some, it begins on the rugby field; for others, in the classroom, the theatre, or the art studio. Each is shaped by a pupil’s own passions, challenges, and discoveries - by the people who notice, encourage, and guide him along the way. This year, 222 pupils are supported by bursaries at Dulwich. That number represents not a programme, but 222 individuals - each with an authentic story and a distinct path through the College. Within these pages, you will meet some of our former recipients of bursaries. Their experiences are unique, but they reflect something shared by many others: what becomes possible when ability and opportunity meet. A bursary here does more than open doors to an outstanding education. It helps young people build confidence, curiosity, and compassion - qualities that endure long after they leave the College. Dulwich is a place where everyone can achieve, belong, and thrive. We see it daily: boys discovering their passions and talents, supported by exceptional staff and a culture that prizes effort as much as achievement. Whether through academic challenge, creative endeavour, or teamwork on the pitch, every pupil learns what it means to believe in themselves. That self-belief is not only powerful, but contagious. It transforms lives and inspires. And with your continued support, we can help more pupils discover it for themselves.

“What makes Dulwich so special is that there’s something for everyone, whether that be music, theatre, sport, science, or academics. Playing rugby, I felt part of a team where everyone worked hard and took pride in what they did. Everyone has their own thing that Dulwich helps them develop, and that shared sense of pride is what makes me so proud to have gone to this school.”

Jake Thomas OA (12-19)

Mr Robert Milne Master of Dulwich College

One bursary, countless ripples When AJ’s former Headmaster suggested he apply for a Sixth Form bursary at Dulwich College, his mother, Sasha, was at a crossroads in her personal life. After years of working in the voluntary sector and running I AM IN ME, a charity supporting at-risk young people, she was questioning whether her work was making the difference she had hoped for, while also worrying about how best to support her son. AJ knew of Dulwich through its partnership work with his school, but it had always felt far beyond reach. When the offer of a bursary came, it presented an opportunity neither he nor Sasha had imagined possible. Starting Sixth Form was both exciting and daunting, but the support AJ received at the College made all the difference. Exceptional teaching and ambitious peers helped him flourish academically and personally. When AJ was offered a donor-funded opportunity to attend university football camps in the United States, And AJ’s bursary did more than transform his own experience. Motivated by seeing her son’s opportunities through education, Sasha found new inspiration in her own work and began reaching more young people than ever. Through a charitable partnership with Dulwich College, the impact of I AM IN ME extended further than before, supporting many more young people across the wider local community. it broadened his horizons and reshaped how he imagined his future.

“Being around pupils who strived to do their best changed how I thought about myself. It pushed me to be better.”

AJ Harris OA (22-24)

“Seeing the word congratulations… I thought of my dad, who couldn’t read or write. I was the first in my family to go to university. Now my son was the first to attend a school like Dulwich. It felt generational.”

Sasha Gay Smith, AJ’s Mum
