but at some point, the skills that created that success change, and when they do, a promotion stops being a sign of growth and becomes a spotlight on misalignment. threshold, a point where they approach the limits of what genuinely suits their abilities. Instead of accepting promotion like a carrot dangled just out of reach, it’s worth pausing to think. The most important questions are simple, but uncomfortable: Who am I? Where am I going? What do I genuinely want?

What is my purpose? And perhaps the hardest question of all: Is this promotion truly a reward for me, or are there other rewards, in other parts of life, that matter more?

Asking these questions isn’t about stepping away from ambition. It’s about stepping back far enough to see your own life clearly.
