75 Bulls and 80 Bred Females Sell Featuring the Complete Dispersal of our Bred Red Angus Females
Welcome to Larson’s Lost River Livestock 16th Annual Production Sale
As always, we begin with a Thank You to past customers and friends. We are excited about what we have to offer in 2026 and hope you will join us on February 28. This year’s offering is one of the most balanced and phenotypically exciting set of cattle we have produced. In addition to our normal offering, we are also selling our entire registered Red Angus herd. The Red Angus breed has been good to us, and we continue to be impressed with the results. However, as the industry moves toward more and more black cattle, we have decided to double down on Gelbvieh and Simmental cattle. As a result, you can buy the heart of our Red Angus program, which represents over 25 years of breeding. Most of these cows are in the prime of their productive life. The past year, 2025, was a year of records. Record prices, record low cow numbers, record low cattle on feed. And it was a year of record finished weights. The record large weights are only possible with larger framed cattle and that is achieved with Gelbvieh and Simmental genetics. A high percentage British cow herd will benefit from the hybrid vigor resulting from a Continental cross such as Gelbvieh or Simmental. Our bulls fit that bill and will sire the kind of calves the industry demands at the feedlot. This year we are offering over 70 fall and spring yearling bulls and over 80 females, including our Red Angus cows. The bulls represent an aggressive culling program; we keep less than 50% of our male calves intact. The females are devel- oped just like our cows in a demanding environment. You can rest assured that they are an honest set of breeding age females. Please join us on Saturday February 28 at the farm for our auction. Visitors are also welcome anytime. All bulls are guaranteed as reproductively sound and females are sold as bred. The guarantee does not extend to non-reproductive injuries sustained between sale date and turnout. We strongly encourage all purchases to be insured. For bulls, in the event of unsatisfactory breeding performance during the first breeding season, either a replacement animal or a future sales credit will be provided with the defective animal is returned to the seller in good health and acceptable body condition or a bill of sale for the culled animal is presented to the seller. All disputes must be presented on or before November 1, 2026. All females sold as “safe in calf” will be examined and declared bred by a licensed veterinarian within 3 weeks of sale date. Bulls were fed a forage-based ration designed to target 3.25 lb/day gain. The test was conducted for approximately 90 days and the bulls exceeded their expected performance. All bulls left on the farm after sale day will be placed on a lower energy diet to harden up prior to pasture conditions. We encourage all buyers taking bulls home before turnout to continue to feed the younger bulls appropriately to ensure continued growth and development. Welcome to the 16th Annual Larson’s Lost River Livestock Annual Production Sale. Through the years we have sold bulls to many top seedstock producers and larger commercial producers throughout the U.S. The quality of LRL bulls has become one of the strongest progrmas in the Gelbvieh/Balancer breeds with some of the top genetics at the highest of quality. The 2026 offering represents the best to date for quality genetics, performance and carcass traits. Please take a look at the videos on DvAuction as you will see how impressive the 2026 sale offering is in both the bulls and females selling. The 2026 sale offers a wide range of genetics from three breeds that continues to produce quality at the highest level with more advanced data and predictability than previous sale offerings from Larson’s Lost River Livestock Production Sale. LRL is also dispersing the Red Angus bred females this year with extremely high quality females selling. LRL continues to use top AI sires in the industry (some of these produced by Larson’s Lost River Livestock), resident pasture sires are AI sires as well and an extensive embryo transfer program to produce a product that excels in all facets of the industry. As you study the bulls you will find these bulls represent calving ease, performance, high carcass values and eye appeal. I take the opportunity to get through the cow herd every year to see the dams and sisters to these bulls and females selling. The factories you find in the pastures here are truly amazing females with high volume, soundness and milk that converts to the calves. When you purchase a bull or female from LRL, you are getting the program with a high quality product. Past sale offerings are working for breeders nationwide with excellent success. These bulls and females are bred to acclimate and work in many weather climates with very little maintenance. We are proud of the success breeders are having with the LRL product. Seedstock and commercial producers are giving us reports throughout the year of the success they are having with Larson’s Lost River Livestock genetics. Feel free to call or text with for any updated information or an evaluation of any animals in the sale offering. Sincerely, Chris Mitchell MMS

Every year we try to place our very best, most intriguing bull as lot 1and I feel N134 embodies that as much as any bull we’ve ever raised. Starting off with just the bull standing in the pen; deep bodied, wide from end to end, clean fronted, incredibly sound from the ground up, free moving, level topped and just overall extremely eye appealing. Next you have his outstanding pedigree strength with 2 of our most potent genetic lines on both the top and bottom side of his pedigree. Dynamic, the exclusive marbling and eye appeal leader in the Gelbvieh breed whose son topped this sale last year for $27,000. 77B, the timeless donor that continues to pump out some of the breed’s most high value offspring including a daughter selling here last year to Coles Bend Cattle for $30,000. Next, study his numeric value. You’ll be hard pressed to find a homo black, homo polled, high percentage purebred Gelbvieh bull with the same level of balance and strength straight across the board. He has great scrotal development, a big average daily gain and its just really hard to find a hole in this guy. We’re incredibly excited to share him with you and can’t wait to see the impact he makes on his new herd and the breed. We plan to use this bull back in our program as broadly as possible.

N139 is a full ET to brother to lot 1 and is dang near the same bull with the same physical character- istics and EPD values, just hetero black. So if you’re in the business of making outstanding reds and blacks, this bull gives you a ton of flexibility. Everything I said about lot 1 applies to this guy but 1 thing I missed was the quality of Dynamic daughters. The first set of his daughters are getting ready to calve this spring and they are some of the soggiest, easy fleshing females you’ll find and look to be setting down grade A udders. These 2 bulls are the whole package so don’t miss out.

Here’s one of the really powerful, higher calving ease prospects in the sale. N130 has as much center body mass and thickness as you’ll find with top 25% BW and top 15% MARB. He’s clean in his lines and the cow he’s out of is one of our best. She raised an outstanding Night Shift son last year who unfortunately injured just before catalog time and never healed. If he hadn’t been hurt, we would’ve been one of the top bulls in the sale. This cow can flat get it done and when you add in Dynamic, this is what you get. Big scrotal development in this bull too.
This Dynamic son is another high calving ease, high marbling individual who looks to be a sleep all night heifer bull. His mother is an up and coming cow for us and is the dam to lot 90 heifer in this sale. She stuck AI again and if she continues to produce stout, deep bodied calves like this, she’ll definitely remain towards the top of our herd.

N59 leads off a new sire group for us, the Bold Ruler sired bulls. Bold Ruler was the high selling Gelbvieh bull of the 2024 sale season, selling for $50,000 to a group of progressive breeders and we were lucky to find ourselves part of that group. The Bold Ruler progeny will be some of the most sought-after cattle of the 2026 sale season and for good reason. They’re complete outcrosses to many current popular bloodlines and will mate really well with Frontrunner and All American progeny. N59 is one of the most balanced Bold Ruler bulls we have with heifer safe calving ease, great growth traits, tremendous maternal values and some of the best carcass EPD’s you’ll find in a homo black, homo polled, high percentage purebred Gelbvieh bull. His dam was the high selling female on Hojer’s 2024 sale and is on the fast track to the donor pen if she keeps producing like this.

Another really athletic, really stout, really eye appealing Bold Ruler son here. N37 comes to you as one of the coolest made bulls in the sale, super flexible, great in his overall design and carries some of the best performance and carcass EPDs you’re going to find in a homo black, homo polled purebred Gelbvieh bull. Top 3% WW, 1% YW, 5% CW, 4% REA, 20% MARB and 20% FPI, this guy really rings the bell when it comes to producing high performance, high carcass merit offspring. His dam is also a top young cow of ours, as she’s a full sister to Voyageur.

Bold Ruler strikes again with a rugged, high performance bull (nearly 100 lbs heavier than the average spring bull) with an outstanding pedigree. N155’s mother raised our high selling All American bull last year, going to McIntosh Brothers in KY for $14,500 and all reports sound like he’s doing an excellent job. The K131 female entered our donor pen last spring and in 2 flushes, she has 7 calves coming this spring with more embryos in the tank. She’s a tremendous producer and you’ll see her influence for many years to come.

N131 is a bull that really resembles the lot 6 bull in his overall design and EPD strength. N131 is super strong for performance while remaining adequate for calving ease with double digits for CED and is one of the very good, very balanced carcass bulls in the sale with top 25% CW, 25% REA and 20% MARB. His dam is also one of our top end cows with perfect feet, a perfect udder and an outstanding production record in her short career, sticking AI on the first shot all 3 years with a 108 WW ratio. She’s certainly on her way to Dam of Merit Status. Her dam is also a very good cow for us with a ripping good North Star bull calf at side right now.

N39 is our lead off All American son this year and it’s no wonder why All American has been so popular. His progeny here continue to be some of our best and this guy is right up there for one of the best All American bulls we’ve produced. Purebred Gelbvieh, homo black, homo polled, better than average calving ease, top 10% growth, top 5% STAY, top 25% DOC, some of the best carcass traits you’ll find in the purebred genepool and outstanding index strength, he really covers the bases. He only has 1 EPD below breed aver- age! If you’re needing rapid genetic improvement, make sure you get this guy on your list. His dam is also a beautifully designed cow with perfect feet and an A+ udder. Really hard to find a hole in this guy.

Another really good All American son, N99 traces his lineage back to the phenomenal 77B donor. His dam is a direct 77B daughter and is an outstanding cow for us with 10 out of 10 feet, a great udder and an even better production history. She has a daughter working for Stanoch Gelbvieh in MN, another daughter working here who is the mother to lot 25 bull, a son working for Terry Frenzel in MN and full brother to this bull who sold last year to John Schultz in MN. Add this guy into the equation and her production history just continues to improve.

Very likely the single greatest actual performance bull we’ve ever raised. 840 lb adjusted weaning weight with no creep and he’ll likely break 1600 lbs on his adjusted yearling weight. Gaining over 4.6 lbs/day on test and is an absolute unit. Right now, almost any calf you bring in to sell is going to be the most valuable you’ve ever sold but in the long run, pounds pay and this guy is a monster when it comes to putting pounds on the scale. One of the favorites of all our summer visitors and he hasn’t slowed down a bit. Don’t miss out on his incredible carcass traits led by top 25% CW, 25% REA and top 10% MARB.

This guy comes to you through a flush we bought from Royal Western Gelbvieh and man did that flush turn into a homerun. The resulting females are some of the best we have running around here, so much so that likely 2 of them will be in our show string this summer. On top of their show ring quality design, they’re some of our best when it comes to numerical value. And with this bull, you have the opportunity to tap into those same genetics. The donor dam behind this bull is synonymous with profitable genetics and her progeny can be found all over North America. RWG Grand Plan at Gustin’s, RWG Seminole Wind at Butler’s, RWG Ghost Town at Beastrom’s and the list goes on and on. Don’t miss out on some of the hottest genetics in the breed right now.

Here we have the natural calf out of our newest donor, 9159G, who is also the dam to the $50,000 Bold Ruler bull. We purchased 9159G on the 2025 National Gelbvieh Sale along with Covington Gelbvieh and Plateau Gelbvieh for $28,000. We think the world of this cow and she’ll have a huge influence on our program over the next few years. We have at least 13 calves coming out of her this spring with another big group of embryos implanted back in November. If you’re looking for outcross genetics with elite carcass value, give this bull a hard look. There are only 5 other active purebred Gelbvieh bulls in the breed that will be offered for sale this sale season that can match his marbling EPD (and 1 of them sells as lot 66 in this very sale), so needless to say, he’s in rarified air.

We purchased this bull’s mother as the lead off bred cow from the historic Chimney Butte Dispersal in the fall of 2024. The K436 cow led off the bred cow division because of her beautiful design and elite EPD structure and we couldn’t be more happy with her. N210 is a very interesting bull with near heifer safe calving ease, tremendous maternal values, some of the best carcass EPDs you’ll find in a high percentage purebred Gelbvieh bull and one of the best indexing bulls in the breed. He’s 1 of only 22 active purebred bulls in the breed with an FPI value of at least 177. Total outcross pedigree as well make this bull a top prospect.

Another Playbook son out a power cow who has landed all three of her bull calves in our sales over the years, one selling to Joel Rhode in 2020 and a full brother to this bull selling to Tony Kokett in 2024. 2 of her daughters have been retained in herd and are very solid females and another daughter was sold to Jake Aaden in 2023. Very consistent, maternally focused genetics behind this bull.

Here we have a bull that’s so easy to write about, a true sale feature and a bull that has been a standout since day one. As you can see from his picture, Clearwater N79 is an absolute tank of a bull with a long spine and great structure. His dam has been one of our very best cows, producing a bull that sold in 2023 to Ertel Cattle Co for $8500 and another son to Ledgerwood Gelbvieh in 2024 for $10,000. And N79 is very likely her best son to date. His combination of stoutness, style and EPD strength is going to be hard to match this spring. Top 35% CED, 40% BW, 35% WW, 30% YW, 20% STAY, 30% DOC, 25% MPI, 35% FPI and 35% TPI all come together to make this incredibly balanced bull one of the features of the 2026 sale season.

Another Voyageur son here that can trace his roots back to our elite cows, the E35 donor. She’s the same cow who produced our top selling female in 2024, Rylee K224 selling for $26,000 to Meng Farms Cattle Co. A lot of potent genetics behind this bull and one that is a borderline heifer bull with excellent stability and docility.
Voyageur strikes again with another high growth, high carcass merit, homo black, homo polled purebred Gelbvieh bull. While the Voyageur cattle may be a little lower on their calving ease traits, when used on mature cows, I expect no problems. The calves we’ve had here have been born unassisted to cows and have tremendous vigor at birth. They pop right up even in the coldest conditions with a great hair coat and you can tell right away they’re going to be some of the biggest calves come weaning time.
Page 12
Larson’s Lost River Livestock Spring Balancer Bulls
Hands down, one of the best bulls we’ve ever raised and a true sale feature of the 2026 sale season. N46 comes to you with nearly everything you could want; adequate calving ease, tremen- dous growth, phenomenal maternal traits, breed leading carcass values and unbeatable index strength. He is 1 of 23 active Balancer bulls in the breed with his combination of MPI, FPI and TPI. And when you factor in his cow family, he only gets better. His dam comes from a flush of our flawless A20 donor by Pay Pal and all three full sisters from that flush were flat awesome. We sold 1 of those sisters on the ND Golden Rule in 2025 to Rick Schimming of ND and you can see how good she was from her picture below. In the pen, this bull is a monster with a 4.49 ADG (over a pound better than the pen average), perfect feet, a great disposition and he’s just a physical specimen. Don’t overlook this bull.

Here we have 2 full ET brothers with more similarities than differences. Both bulls are Top Dollar qualified, both are homo black and homo polled, both have excellent scrotal development and both carry extremely strong, balanced EPDs. Both are really well rounded bulls and will make an exceptional set of uniform, high performance, high carcass value, black hided feeders when working in the same pasture. Add both of these bulls to your battery and you won’t be disappointed.

The Grindstone sired bulls just keep coming and they all ring the bell for performance and carcass merit. N157 does all that along with his ability to bring incredible maternal value to the table as he traces back to the elite 77B donor. He’s Top Dollar qualified, and is a great looking bull standing in the pen. Clean made, big middled, wide topped and really sound which is a hallmark of the Grindstone cattle.

N30 is another really good Grindstone son who traces back to one of our most influential cows, 319A. 319A was the mother to High Life, one of our all-time high sellers going to Cedar Top Ranch and Post Rock Cattle for $26,000 in 2021. High Life has been a leader in registrations in the Gelbvieh breed and N30’s mother is a maternal sister to High Life. Some pretty potent performance genetics here. Heifer safe calving ease and Top Dollar qualified, a really high quality individual.

A really good, homo black, homo polled true F1 Balancer here. If you have an Angus heavy cow herd but aren’t quite ready to use a purebred bull, using one of these F1 Balancers is an excellent way to add significant heterosis to your calf crop without sacrificing carcass quality and that “Angus look” to your calves. This bull is going to add some stretch and some pop and you’ll end up with calves with top-notch carcass traits.

As his name suggests, this bull is a bruiser. Long, thick, big framed and powerful, he’s going to put pounds on calves while keeping them eye appealing and full of carcass merit. After the first calf crop out of this bull, the cattle buyers will be climbing over each other to get your calves when they’re out of bulls like this. And this guy’s daughters should be excellent cows as well. His mother is a 2 time Dam of Merit award winner and is also the mother to lot 80 bred heifer.
