downtown.” With evident charisma, Earl looks forward to the continuation of Nostalgia Nights, Oktoberfest and more. Originally from Orangeville, Earl describes having grown up in a farming community, “where everybody knew everybody”. Two company transfers led Earl and his family to St. Thomas, once in ‘77 and again in ‘87. As he continues, “I feel that way here; it’s the small-town atmosphere and sense of community that I love. This is a safe community, and there is such compassion – neighbours shovel driveways for each other, lending a hand and connecting. This feels like home to me. I was meant to be in St. Thomas.” When Earl is not immersed in all-things City Council, he remains a member of the Optimist Club of St. Thomas and has been involved with social clubs for many of the companies which he has worked for. With his passion for fashion, Earl enjoys attending various celebrations across the city in his uniquely fancy suits; colourful, eccentric and thematic. Visitors have even travelled to St. Thomas to see Earl’s esteemed outfits in person. Earl is the high school sweetheart of his beloved wife, Nancy, along with being the proud father of Rob and Lisa, and loving grandfather to two. He has been a dedicated realtor for 33 years, and balances his work life with grounding adventures alongside childhood friends. As Earl details, “I travelled for work with the Association of Realtors, and my family members are avid campers. We love getting out into nature and going up North.” Excitedly, Earl shares that he and Nancy have booked their camping quests for this spring. With his appreciation for the outdoors, Earl has a vision for individuals at The INN to be able to enjoy greenspace: “I am brainstorming if there is something better that can be done; expanding what we have to become that of a wellness centre.”

While Earl’s position on City Council dissolves in October of ‘26, he reveals that running again is certainly on his radar. Those with City Council-related inquiries are welcome to connect with Earl through his etaylor@stthomas.ca email address.
