When Gary Meredith, Owner of Gastech Solutions, first opened his doors 20 years ago, he wasn’t thinking about milestones; he was thinking about moving forward. After spending 14 years in the trades with a gas utility company, Gary decided to go out on his own. Inspired by his father, also a tradesman, he saw firsthand the value of hard work and honesty. Starting with just a handful of customers and operating out of his home, he focused on building something sustainable. “As most business owners know, the first years in business are the toughest,” Gary says. “Starting a business from the ground up is very hard, and I always concentrated on moving forward, but 20 years have passed, looking back, it feels like just yesterday we opened.” Growth came steadily. He hired a technician he had previously worked with, then another. As the team expanded, so did the need for space. The company moved from his home to a commercial location on South Edgeware Road in St. Thomas, and then in 2022, Gastech reached another major milestone, purchasing its current building at 45 Progress Drive. Gary believes trust has been the foundation of that success. “Our customers have come to know and expect a high standard of workmanship, honesty, and customer service from us,” he says. “Because of that, they don’t hesitate to refer us to their family and friends.” With 34 years of hands-on experience, Gary emphasizes that he’s not just selling equipment; he has personally installed and serviced the systems he recommends. That knowledge allows him to provide practical, honest advice tailored to each home. Over the past two decades, Ontario’s HVAC industry has transformed dramatically. Rising energy costs have driven demand for higher-efficiency systems, electrification, smart technology, and improved indoor air quality. Customers are more informed than ever, researching products and comparing efficiency ratings before making decisions.

With his son Joshua, a third-generation gas technician, now part of the team, the future of Gastech remains grounded in community, craftsmanship, and personal connection. To celebrate their 20-year milestone, Gastech is hosting a customer appreciation BBQ this June at its Progress Drive location, featuring giveaways, including a brand-new Ruud air conditioner. “Reaching 20 years in business simply wouldn’t have been possible without our customers,” Gary says.
