Born and raised in St. Thomas, Kim has built an outstanding ca- reer marked by leadership, de- dication, and deep community com- mitment. Joining the St. Thomas Fire Department in 1999 as a dis- patcher and communicator, she quickly earned respect for her professionalism and service. A pas- sionate community builder, she helped lead the beloved Annual Fire Muster Days and served provincially with the Ontario Fire Inspirational Women – Kim Destun (St. Thomas Fire)

Sarah grew up on Mazak Farms in Talbotville, where her deep connection to the land and its animals was shaped by a child- hood rooted in freedom and responsibility. Now, alongside her husband, Barry, and with the sup- port of their three daughters, she proudly operates the family farm. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience as a Recreation

Therapist and her role as a Professor of Recreation Therapy, Sarah launched Greenfields Therapy Farm, blending her professional expertise with her passion for farming. The farm offers evidence-based, nature-centred therapeutic experiences that foster movement, personal growth, and meaningful interaction with animals –especially horses.
