The STEGH Foundation, 40 Years of Healthcare Impact and Gratitude by Peri Hayes
The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation is celebrating a unique milestone: 40 years of community generosity and medical advancements for our region. Karen Davies, St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) Pres- ident and CEO, alongside Ryan Byrne, Executive Director of the Foundation, agree that this is an exciting time for STEGH. As the partnership between the Hospital and the Foundation continues to be nourished and strengthened, they thank those who have stepped forward. “Our loyal donors and valued members of the community should feel proud for contributing in a variety of ways. Millions of dollars have been raised, which ultimately transforms patient care here at STEGH.” A lengthy list of accomplishments and fundraising campaigns has provided advancements to care at STEGH, including the most recent effort to raise a quarter million dollars for supporting new equipment and enhancements in STEGH’s high-volume Emergency Department. Over time, vital upgrades have been made to STEGH’s diagnostics (such as advanced breast screening and our region’s first MRI), an array of ICU equipment, NICU developments and more – all funded directly by community donations. To date, more than 80 million dollars has been raised in support of life-changing care, closer to home. Karen shares what excites her about the STEGH Foundation and ongoing local support: “It’s the momentum and the shared purpose. The community’s continued engagement with the Hospital makes me proud, and I know there is a lot more ahead of us.”
