First Harmful Event Figure 6 and Table 11 illustrate the crash causes based on the recorded first harmful event, when known, for all crashes and KSI crashes. The most common crashes involved motor vehicle collisions with other vehicles in transport 11 (74.9%), followed by collisions with fixed objects 10 Note that one crash may have more than one associated contributing factors. The % of crashes shown in this table is the percentage among the total number of crashes (i.e., 68,936) and the % of KSI crashes is the percentage among the total number of KSI crashes (i.e., 2,589). 11 In Transport - Denotes the state or condition of a motor vehicle which is in motion or within the portion of a way ordinarily used for travel by similar vehicles. When applied to motor vehicles, in transport means in motion or on a roadway. Source: https://ftp.txdot.gov/pub/txdot-info/trf/crash_statistics/2020/b.pdf
