Home Instead Central Hampshire RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING

Our Domiciliary and Live-In Care Services:

Domiciliary care, also known as home care, is a support service that allows individuals to receive professional care in the comfort of their own homes. Whether it’s assistance with everyday tasks, personal hygiene, medication, or more advanced medical and mobility needs, domiciliary care is designed to help people maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life without having to move into a residential setting.

Unlike domiciliary care, which can leave long gaps between visits, live-in care ensures someone is always there, day or night. We offer both services to our clients, tailored to their individual needs and preferences. By carefully matching each carer with the right client, we strive to foster a trusted relationship that enhances comfort, confidence, and quality of daily life.

I am enjoying working with the company. All staff are very caring and the training is thorough. They are supportive and always available to help.

Miriam, Carer

Training & Development Personalised Initial Training Every new Care Professional begins with training tailored to their individual experience and learning style. This includes: An introduction to the Home Instead family and our values. Guidance on using our eLearning platform (Lumis) and Care Management system (Birdie). A focus on our Person-Centred approach, ensuring every client receives care that respects their individuality and independence. Understanding the Role We explore what it truly means to be a Home Instead Care Professional, covering: How to better support clients to live safely and independently at home. Promoting wellbeing, dignity, and choice in every aspect of care. Learning Through Experience Training goes beyond the classroom with real-world experience, including: Taster sessions - shadow an experienced Care Professional in your future client’s home. Practical, hands-on training in “Molly’s Flat”, our interactive learning space in Alresford, where you can practise essential skills such as medication administration and personal care.

Training & Development Ongoing Learning & Support Your development continues with: Continuous eLearning and refresher modules through Lumis. Shadow visits and guided introductions to new clients, supported by experienced colleagues. Regular feedback and mentoring to build confidence in your role. Achieving the Care Certificate All new Care Professionals complete the Care Certificate, a nationally recognised qualification for the social care sector. Typically completed within the first three months of employment. Achieved through a blend of eLearning, face-to-face sessions, and in-field support.

Specialist Additional Training While all our Care Professionals receive comprehensive core training, some clients may require more specialist support - for example, in areas such as dementia care, palliative care, neurological conditions, or clinical tasks like catheter or stoma care. In these cases, we offer opportunities for Care Professionals to undertake enhanced or condition-specific training to ensure every client receives safe, expert care tailored to their needs. However, we recognise that not every carer will wish to take on this level of specialisation, and we always prioritise the well-being and work-life balance of our team. Our approach ensures that both clients and Care Professionals are supported in ways that suit their individual strengths and circumstances.

Great team to work with and be part of. I very much enjoyed the Dementia training. It was engaging and interactive, and very informative and based on our experience, which has helped to bring enrichment.

Daniela, Carer
