STOTHERSTOPLAY APART INGROUND- BREAKINGMEDICAL RESEARCHPROJECT

S tothers (M&E) Ltd is set to start MEP services on a specialist, world-leading Institute of Development & Regenerative Medicine (IDRM) medical research building in Oxford. The Belfast company will be responsible for both the new research centre and an ancillary plant/ support building. The £35m project is expected to take approximately 18-months to complete and will bring together 220 leading researchers from Oxford and around the globe, each focussed on the human body’s ability to repair itself. Situated in Oxford University’s Old Road Campus, the project first gained planning permission in 2019 and will provide 6000 sq metres of floor space with laboratories, offices and shared facilities. The IDRM building will sit behind the recently completed Innovation Building and forms a gateway between the Campus and the suburb of Headington. One of the challenges facing the Stothers on-site team will be negotiating the increased volume of construction traffic, with the Old Road Campus’ Kennedy Institute also scheduled for work. www.stothersm-e.co.uk
