Join a naturalist for a wintry morning hike at Knoch Knolls Park to look for signs of wildlife. Younger children may be carried; no strollers please. Wear sturdy hiking boots or snow boots. Some kits are designed for families with up to 4 children; other kits are designed for just one child (e.g., craft kits). An email confirmation will be sent when your kit is available for pick up inside the nature center during open hours. (ah) SECRETIVE SALAMANDERS: Explore the mysterious lives of Illinois salamanders. Use our Secretive Salamanders Nature Discovery Kit to learn more about these elusive amphibians with fun activities, games and a craft. Take home kit includes: Background information, book list, coloring sheets, supplies for four (4) salamander crafts, materials/instructions for an outdoor salamander search, an indoor hide and seek game, plus a memory matching game. Join a naturalist for a Valentine’s Day hike at Knoch Knolls Park and learn about the love lives of local wildlife. Look for signs of deer, owls and more as you uncover the courtship rituals taking place in the park. The route is over mostly grassy or paved trails.
