sufficient for those who have gone before us, is available for us if we claim it. Th ird— Constant Study of th e Word of God.— Joshua was a man of g reat power and au tho rity , yet he m u st him self be under command and do w hat he was bidden. All men, however great, are in th e service of another. God’s o rders are set fo rth in The Scriptures and those who would be guided by them , must earn estly study. Surely th e advice given Jo shua concerning th e study of the Word could well be fol lowed by all who w ant success. The m editation of th e Word was to be con sta n t— no merely glancing th rough— and th en the m editation was to be fol lowed by obedient conduct. Do we live up to w hat we know of God’s will for us? The one who has no t repented of his sin and accepted God’s Son as Saviour has no t properly read th e Word of God. How are you reading your Bible? The Christian life is th e only one th a t can win real success. “Seek ye first th e kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Story of a B rave Deader. Jo shu a 1:1-9. Memory Verse: “ I will be w ith thee.” Jo shua 1:5. Today we are to hear something more abou t Joshua, who was such a good soldier, so brave and tru e, th a t God made him a g reat leader. P rayer.

Besson Story: Are you all really and tru ly aw ake th is morning? All righ t, h ere is a te st to prove it. There are some people in th e world who always w an t th e ir own way. Did you ever h ear of any people like th at, and what happened to them ? (Go on question ing, covering events in last week’s les son, p erm itting children to answer.) It has been quite a long tim e since God sent th e people of Israel away from the prom ised land, and all the grown-up people who were living^ then have died, except th e two good spies, Caleb and Jo shu a; still th e re are ju st as many people, for all th a t were children then are men and women, and many of them are m arried and have children. God is looking over his people for a leader, for the g reat man Moses, who had led the people so faithfully, is dead also. God spoke to Joshua and told him now th a t Moses was dead, he was to be th e new leader. Jo shu a had helped Moses all th e time, and God had seen how brave and faith fu l he had been, so He knew Jo shu a was th e rig h t man to become th e leader of H is people Israel. The first th ing God told Jo shua to do was to get ready to go over into th e new land which He (God) was going to give to them . You rem ember th is land was called Canaan, or th e prom ised land, and God told Joshua to be strong and brave, for He would be w ith him ju st as he was w ith Moses. Jo shu a had the people march from th e place where they were un til they came to the bank of a big river, called the Jo rd an River, where th ey camped for th ree days, get ting ready to cross over into th e ir new land. How were they to get across this g re a t deep and wide river w ith its sw ift ly runn ing w ater, when th ere were no bridges and no boats? Then acrqss on th e o th er bank of the riv er was a g reat walled city called Jericho, w ith its sol diers standing gu ard ; how could they pass them , for they had no weapons to ^&ht with.
