Men w ent among th e people and told them to prepare enough m anna (which was th e bread God had sent down from heaven) and to g ath er plenty of fru it, which grew in th e place where they were camping. Then Joshua said to th e people, “Make yourselves ready; tomorrow th e Lord will do wonders among you.” E arly the next m orning th e people b reak camp and pack th e ir things ready fo r the journey. The priests or m inisters s ta rt ed first and marched down to th e w at er’s edge and th e people formed in line behind them . They could see and h ear th e raging w aters of th e riv er and th en look across on the other side and see th e large h arv et fields— flowers and fru its. Jo shua gave th e command to move forward. W hat would th e m in isters do, for they were rig h t down to th e edge of th e w ater? They sta rted

forw ard, for God had told Jo shua He would work wonders, and ju s t as soon as th e ir feet touched th e w ater, it rolled back and left th e ground bare across th e whole bed of th e river. As soon as th e people came up out of th e river, th e w ater began to flow, filling th e riv er as full as it had been before. The people camped on th e bank of th e river. Here they found some corn th a t had grown in th e land, which they parched and ate. On th e morrow afte r they had eaten th e corn, th e m anna stopped coming. F o r 40 years th e Lord had sent them manna in th e w ilderness where no g rain grew, b u t now they were in Canaan, where th e re was plenty of food, so the manna stopped. Joshua was a g reat leader and God gave him victory over th e people living in th e land, for they worshipped idols and did no t love God. Closing P ra y er: We th a n k thee Lord for thy prom ise to be w ith th y children, and help us to be tru e soldiers of Jesus every day.
