is a liar and the father of lies, they will believe. Golden Text Illustration P salm 51:6 A sweet little six-year-old girl looked up suddenly at her mother and said, "Mother, I think that Jesus was the only one who ever dared to live His inside out!”

The mother was fairly dazed by the little one’s thought. Well she might be. It carried one of the profoundest thoughts suggested by lifelong study of that divine character. But here it was out of the mouth of almost a babe. She had heard His story. She had seen that He was so pure in all His soul that there was nothing there that He needed to conceal from anybody. Was not He the only one in all the history of mankind of whom that could be truly said? — Onward. When a Man Didn’t Tell the Truth E xodus 20:16; 2 K ings 5:20-27 Memory Verse: "My mouth shall speak truth” (Prov. 8:7 ). Approach: Today we are going to talk about the commandment that tells us not to tell lies. I am sure that all of you know that it is wrong to tell lies, but I wonder whether you have ever stopped to think that telling mean things about people, things that you are not positive are true, is a kind of lying. It is, and God’s commandment says: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” Our story today is about a man who wanted something so badly that he told a lie about the man for whom he worked. Lesson Story: This How grateful Naaman, the captain, was! He wanted to pay Elisha by giving him expensive gifts. These Elisha would not receive. He knew that his power to cure had come from God. He wanted to lead this man to have faith in God’s power and not in Elisha. But Gehazi the servant heard Elisha refuse the gifts. He thought of a plan to get them for himself. He would run after Naaman as he was leaving and would tell him that Elisha had changed his mind. What a lie this was! And how he was going to suffer because he told it! For the leprosy which had left Naaman came upon Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neigh bor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s. |Luke 12:13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. 14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? 15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and be ware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room wnere to be stow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. man, Gehazi, was the servant of Elisha, the prophet. Now the captain of the army of the great country of Syria was a leper. This cap tain came to Elisha, and God permitted Elisha to cure him.

Gehazi as he stood before his master Elisha after he had done this wicked thing, "and he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.”

Object Lesson T he C andle S isters Objects: Six candles. One should be blue and taller than the rest. Lesson: These Candle Sisters are all Christians, but I am afraid they are, with the exception of one, too much like many Christians today—they do not let their light shine before others and cause others to glorify God. When the Lord Jesus, rep resented by this large blue candle, wants Alice Candle to shine for Him, she sputters. (Wick previously wet.) Have you ever seen Christians who failed to shine for Christ because they were too busy sput tering? This is Grace Candle. She is very crooked, and cannot shine pleasingly for Christ. She does not represent people with crooked bodies, but those who tell lies and are crooked in their business, work, or play. The ninth commandment says: "Thou shalt not bear false witness” (Ex. 20:16). Betty is straight, but she is not clean. (Candle end previously dipped in mud.) If you are to shine for Jesus, you must keep your hearts, minds, and lips clean. Sarah Candle is a good girl, but she does not let her light shine. W e will put this shell around the light, showing how some people enjoy Christ for themselves, but are not willing to tell others about Him. Mary is the one of the sisters who lets her light shine for Christ. Wherever she goes, she lets people know that she has Jesus, the Light of the world. What a joy it will be when Christians who have let their light shine on earth get to heaven and meet some who have learned of Jesus because these faithful ones let their light shine (cf. Matt. 5:16)! 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. ' 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is 'he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. 1 Timothy 6 :6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment, let us be there with content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and per dition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
