Walking and bicycling to school enables children to incorporate the regular physical activity they need each day while also forming healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Regular physical activity helps children build strong bones, muscles and joints, and it decreases the risk of

obesity. In contrast, insucient physical activity can contribute to chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and stroke.

News Scavenger Hunts Scavenger Hunts with the newspaper are fun and can be used to search for a wide variety of topics. Here are just a few ideas: ABC Hunt: Find each letter of the alphabet on one page of the newspaper (if you can!). Connect the letters from A-Z and then color in the design. Noun Time: Look through the newspaper and circle people in green, places in red, and things in blue. Numbers Describe: Look through the newspaper and circle ve numbers. Then, determine what each number describes. Is it a dollar amount, a date, an age, or something else?
