About Aesop Aesop was a storyteller. He lived about 2,500 years ago in ancient Greece. His favorite story to tell was a fable. A fable is a very short story with a moral, or a lesson to teach. Aesop’s fable The Fox and the Grapes tells about a fox who tries and tries to reach grapes on a high branch. Embarassed by being unable to jump high enough to reach them, the fox walks o angrily, saying loudly that the grapes are sour and not worth the eort anyway.
