CLASSROOM INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC This account would not be complete without mentioning the standout performances of our Diploma Prep Year 12 and Year 13 students. Too numerous to name, these extremely talented boys have performed at a high level in a conservatory setting all year. Their organisation, talent, and hard work have secured many Excellence grades.
the classic Gonna Fly Now from the Rocky soundtrack. To conclude our year, Cole Moffatt performed a school favourite, Don’t Stop by Fleetwood Mac. ASSEMBLY Throughout 2024, we have been treated to amazing student music at Assembly. While there isn’t room to list them all, mention must be made of Lucas Zhong for multiple chamber and solo performances on not just piano but also the violin; Richard Brown for his beautiful renditions of chamber music such as Schubert, Popper, and the more contemporary Jvke; Joshua Padayachee for stirring
performances of Saint-Saëns, and Schubert; Cole Moffatt and his virtuosic performances of Elton John and Fleetwood Mac; and Luke Hearne’s impeccable rendition of Sultans of Swing . The Jazz Band – under the direction of Claire Oliver – also showed excellence, performing an energetic and complex number in Term 3, following the band’s triumph at Southern Jam in Blenheim. We thank Findlay Sharpe for his excellent service as band leader. These boys, and many others, have shown confidence and skill in the middle of busy schedules and performed brilliantly, enhancing the mana of our assemblies.
