(distance), Bev Peterson (sprints), Tom Turner (high jump/pole vault), Yo-An Lin (shot put, hammer, discus), Matt Thatcher (long jump, triple jump) Please note that some boys also have outside coaches. The above coaches work here for the boys on the College training nights. Thank you to any coach who has helped our boys privately. Captains: Aston Nijjar, Armani Lemalu ATHLETICS CAPTAINS This year, captains Aston Nijjar and Armani Lemalu helped to organise the team running our College championships at Nga¯ Puna Wai. They also helped to manage the team at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Championships. These boys have been excellent members of our team over the years and I appreciate their contributions to athletics, and their leadership this season. COLLEGE ATHLETICS DAY CHAMPIONSHIPS With Upper unavailable because of the construction of Upper West, our championships were held on the all-weather Nga¯ Puna Wai track. The new format was exciting, with new records set on the proper athletics track, rather than the usual grass of Upper. Each House supported the new format with fierce competition in search of House points. Thank you to staff and Athletics Canterbury for making this event possible as we continue this tradition of a whole-House event. Future College championships will be held at the new venue following design changes to the Upper field.
