Full results: https://www.sportsplits. com/races/canterbury-secondary- schools-road-race-2024. In the Year 9 race, Sam Moore was only a second behind the winner, recording an exceptionally good time for 2nd. Finishing 2nd in the team competition was also impressive.

In the junior race, Otto Church continued his strong form to finish 3rd. Three boys were under or close to that magic sub-10-minute barrier. Max Hindmarsh dug deep in the last kilometre to pull back a place, helping to cement the team's top result. It was a very good individual and team performance. The senior team also had good runs, and the boys were pleased with their individual performances.

HARRIERS Some College boys ran in interclub events with registered clubs in winter and attended School Sport Canterbury and the New Zealand Secondary Schools Association-run events. COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP Held on the last Monday of Term 3 following feedback from staff and boys about the best date, the 2024 format changed to a voluntary event. Houses could still compete for House cups and individual titles, but the overall championship points were weighted to those Houses entering the largest groups. It was another great day of racing across the grades, with staff also competing. The event’s success was primarily due to the efficiency of the staff marshalling and the clean- up, combined with the support of a GAP student. This year, the event was sponsored by sports timing specialist SportSplits New Zealand. Each boy was given an electronic ankle bracelet, and the results were delivered promptly by SportSplits. The boys were also given a race time for the first time this year. Thank you to owner-operator Marcus Diprose for your support.
