Regional relay, Sunday 16 June Representing their regions, College runners made the most of the conditions. In the Year 9 team event, George Thorp ran for Canterbury B, with the team placing 8th and George recording 8.35 for his 2km lap. Sam Ensor ran for Canterbury C (11th), recording 8.59 for his lap. In the junior event, Otto Church ran for Canterbury A, with the team finishing 2nd and Otto recording 7.29 for his lap. Louis Hiatt ran for Canterbury B (10th), recording 7.48. Max Hindmarsh ran for the C team, recording 8.56. Henry Hiatt lined up for Canterbury B (10th) in the senior race, running 7.40. Thank you to all the parents for getting the boys to Timaru, and thanks particularly to the Ensor family for managing the team. Sam Moore won the Year 9 grade, finishing 10 seconds ahead of the next runner. George Thorp (9th) also registered a top-10 finish, followed closely by Sam Ensor (12th) to ensure the Year 9 team win. In the junior race, Otto Church won with a strong, front-running performance to finish 33 seconds ahead of his nearest rival and Harry Holmes (17th) recorded a top-20 place.
rain, the sand-based cross-country course held up well. The course was fast but demanding, with two hurdles per lap. However, the team was hit by illness, with some having to pull out. Of the remainder, many ran PBs. Otto Church was the standout, placing 8th in the junior event. He was selected for the Junior Canterbury A team for the regional relay, running a strong lap to help the team finish 2nd in the national event. Cross Country Championships, Saturday 15 June In the Year 9 3km event, 122 boys raced. The battle between Harrison Tapper and Sam Ensor was epic as they raced stride for stride and recorded the same time. However, Harrison was a small step ahead of Sam on the line. In the junior 4km event, 144 boys lined up. Along with Otto’s strong result, both Louis Hiatt and Max Hindmarsh had good runs. It was probably the best performance by Louis at this level and Max had already had a rugby game that day. Max had an excellent race considering that he had been on the field 30 minutes earlier. In his first year of cross country, he showed his potential. Results

CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS Napier, 3–4 August Otto Church represented Athletics Canterbury in the U16 grade, placing 6th.
