Grade 2nd Division, the team enjoyed a strong start against Ferrymead Bays before facing several disruptions because of illness and injuries that affected the momentum. Despite several disappointing losses, the 6–2 victory over CBHS was a season standout, highlighting the team’s capabilities and potential. However, the most memorable match was against Nomads, with College trailing 1–5 at halftime. Despite the daunting scoreline, the players regrouped with remarkable focus and determination to turn the game around to seal a thrilling 7–5 win. Throughout the season, Oscar Singleton stood out with his impressive goal-scoring abilities, netting a remarkable 19 goals. Midfielders James Parker, Will Marsh, Toby Sharr, and Harry Ensor all contributed with their industry and work rate, which was crucial for controlling the flow of the game. Baxter Bretherton, Kever Thorley, and George Gorman brought pace and vision to the team, creating numerous scoring opportunities for teammates. Noah Elkington’s leadership stood out as both captain and the team’s Most Valuable Player. The defensive line, consisting of George Simonsohn, George Hadden, Soko Selan, Casper Talbot, Hugo Loughnan, and Ryan Speizer as the goalkeeper, provided the necessary solidity to bolster the team’s resilience on the field. After several losses, the season concluded on a high, with a dominant 12–1 victory against Nomads in the final crossover friendly game. The comprehensive win highlighted the team’s ability to perform and reflected the growth throughout the season. U15B This season, U15B had to display resilience and teamwork as the team battled its way through the season. Against tough opponents, the boys consistently improved, producing valiant efforts despite the scoreboard. The season highlights included a hard-fought 3–2 win over the Oxford
Football Club U15 Jaguars and a well- earned 1–0 win against the Halswell United 15 Hawks. The team’s final game of the season against CTFC 15 Blue showcased the players’ excellent on-field communication and support from the sidelines. Despite their best efforts, Cashmere took the win, 1–4, leaving U15B 4th for the season. Among the standout performers, Ben Parker excelled as goalkeeper, and the team’s Most Valuable Player, making numerous crucial saves that kept the team competitive. Sebastian Wynn Thomas shone as the top goal scorer, netting 15 goals. Will Hayes,
Apart from a few solid wins against the Burwood Firebirds and Halswell United, the rest of the season followed a similar pattern. While victories were few, the team never allowed their opponents an easy win. Their determination and grit were visible in every match, and they grew stronger as a team, developing an effective possession-based style of play and improving their finishing at the goal. The commitment of the U14A team was apparent, both in training and during games. The boys consistently arrived with a positive attitude, ready to give their all. There was never a moment of complacency or a lack of effort. Their dedication, coupled with an ever-strengthening camaraderie, undoubtedly laid the groundwork for future success. U14B The U14B team had quite a journey this season. At the start, they were like a box of chocolates – full of variety and potential. However, it took some time to figure out how all the pieces fitted together. The grading games were a crucial turning point, helping the players to find their rhythm and start working as a cohesive unit. Despite moving down a grade, the team did not let that hinder their spirit. The support from the experienced players proved invaluable, guiding the newcomers through the nuances of the game and helping them to understand their roles. As trust and confidence built among the players, their ability to pass, position themselves, and set up plays improved significantly. This progress led to some well-deserved wins and a boost in motivation. The highlights included the 6–4 win in an epic battle with CTFC 14 Red and a 7–3 win over Halswell United 14 Stars. To finish the season, the team lost an exciting game, 0–1, to Parklands United to finish 4th overall. This reflected significant improvement over the season after earlier losing to the same Parklands team, 0–7 and 0–5.
Edward Killick, James Jenkins, and Lucas Zhang exemplified a
committed, enthusiastic and positive attitude throughout the season. The team’s ability to overcome challenges and grow, both individually and collectively, fostered a positive and supportive environment where fun was always a priority. A huge thank you to the boys for their hard work, to coach Jamie Williams for his guidance, and to the parents for their unwavering support and commitment throughout the season. The 15B team has much to be proud of, and we look forward to seeing the continued development in seasons to come. U14A The U14A team enjoyed a season filled with rewarding moments, highlighted by impressive growth and development. Despite a series of tough opponents, the players exhibited remarkable resilience, a strong sense of teamwork, and a steadfast commitment to improving their game. Although the early part of the season was characterised by several tough losses, the team consistently delivered competitive and high- intensity performances. Every match, regardless of the outcome, pushed the opposition to fight hard for their victories. The players’ persistence and skill ensured that they retained their spot in the top division following the league restructure.
