54 games to 49. The boys’ ability to compete at such a high level against a group of full-time tennis academy players is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and talent. Although this match ended in defeat, it has laid a strong foundation for future successes, and we are determined to try to win it again. Christ’s College is widely recognised as one of the best tennis schools in New Zealand by the tennis community. As day three dawned, a sense of anticipation gripped the team as College prepared to face our rival, Westlake Boys High School, in the semi-final. In the essential opening
format, with the top teams from each pool advancing to the playoffs based on their performances. On day one, most College players recorded big wins against ACG Parnell College and King’s College. A strong opening performance enabled College to breeze through the first round, beating both schools 6–0. On day two, Te Kura online school caught College off guard with a surprising 3–3 result. Despite their efforts, College narrowly lost out on a count back with a final score of 61–65. The result reflects the closely contested battles, showcasing the intensity and skill of both teams and highlighting the competitive nature of each match. The highlight was Louis de Lautour’s remarkable comeback win against his formidable Te Kura opponent. Despite trailing 0–6 in the first set, Louis dug deep to claw his way back into the match, securing a hard-fought 7–5 victory in the second set. As the tension reached its peak in the decisive tiebreak, Louis continued to showcase his resilience and mental toughness, ultimately commanding a 10–5 win in the super tie break to secure a crucial point for College.
match, Nicholas Rayner performed spectacularly to defeat Westlake’s James Burrows, 6–1 6–2. Franklin Barry and Jack Hansen-Ratter followed accordingly, defeating Andre Duggan, 6–0 6–1, and Nehal Naidoo, 6–3 6–2, respectively. In yet another eagerly anticipated BS1 showdown, Lucas Evans braced himself for a challenging match against the top- seeded player, Eddie Biss, setting the stage for a gripping clash. Carrying this positive momentum, Lucas managed to assert his dominance and control to earn a crucial 6–3 6–4 win to again face Te Kura online school in the final. The semi-final concluded 5–1 in our favour. Reflecting the high stakes and competitive spirit of the final, players from both teams stepped onto the centre court ready to throw everything but the kitchen sink to earn the national title. In a six-hour-plus showdown, the crowd watched with bated breath as the momentum swung back and forth, creating an atmosphere of suspense and excitement. Despite their best efforts and unwavering determination, the boys ultimately fell short, losing four matches to two,
