Junior players were out in force for the new weekly competition, with the squad showing depth and wide- ranging abilities. We were fortunate to have a full team, plus nearly another team worth of substitutes for each fixture. The team showed respect for the game and each other. Thank you to our student coaches and parent manager, Edward Elworthy, William Wakeman, and Michelle Bennett, respectively.
The Christ’s College water polo programme also appreciated the support of Lionel Randall for his motivational skills, helping to instil camaraderie, confidence, and discipline while bringing the boys together for a common purpose. Our senior team faced challenging games at the start of the season. A diverse team, it included experienced Year 13 players and others from each year group. Captained by William Wakeman, the senior squad displayed grit and a growth mindset to finish mid-pack at the South Island Secondary Schools Senior Water Polo Championship, illustrating the boys’ camaraderie and discipline.
