Angus Whitteker

Runner-up to the Wacher Prize for Academic Head of School This year's recipient of the Runner-up to the Wacher Prize received a Gold Christ’s College Diploma with Honours in 2022, as well as Gold Buttons in 2023 in recognition of two years of academic excellence. At Level 2 NCEA, he achieved an overall Excellence endorsement and also completed Level 3 Calculus, for which he was Merit endorsed. This year, he is on track to also gain Level 3 with an Excellence endorsement, and hopes to succeed in the five Scholarship subjects he has entered. You have already seen this student walk across the stage winning prizes for 1st in Statistics and Chemistry, and the top aggregate across three sciences. Further to this, he has been an active participant in the wider life of the school. His talents in music have made him a valuable member of the Chapel Choir and Schola Cantorum. Angus hopes to study medicine at the University of Otago. Congratulations to the 2024 proxime accessit – the Runner-up to the Wacher Prize goes to Angus Whitteker.

Christ’s College Interhouse Competition Trophy The trophy goes to the House which has amassed the most points in interhouse competitions, both sporting and cultural. The winner for 2024 is Flower’s House.

Nick Sharr

Wacher Prize for Academic Head of School The recipient of the Wacher Prize received a Gold Christ’s College Diploma with Honours in 2022, and a Gold Tie and Gold Buttons in 2023 in recognition of his exemplary academic performance. He was awarded an Excellence endorsement in all six subjects at Level 2. This included Level 3 Calculus, for which he gained an Excellence in every achievement standard he completed. This year, in Level 3, he has gained Excellence in all internal assessments and is again on track to receive Excellence endorsement in all his subjects. He has also enrolled in five Scholarship subjects. This student has a particular passion for mathematics, and in addition to his school studies has completed mathematics as a STAR course at the University of Canterbury, and self-studied Cambridge A-Level mathematics. He has already received prizes today for the top aggregate across two sciences, and a 1st in History and English Literature, along with being named best actor. Next year, he hopes to study mathematics in the United Kingdom, and we wish him well for his interview with the prestigious Cambridge University. Congratulations to the Dux for 2024. The Wacher Prize for Academic Head of School goes to Nick Sharr.

Zinzan Bondarenko-Leatua

Head Prefect’s Prize and Ormsby Memorial Medal Zinzan has been an exemplary Head Prefect, demonstrating outstanding leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to serving the school community. Leading with humility and positivity, he has inspired both students and staff, fostering a culture of respect and collaboration. Zinzan’s ability to lead by example, combined with his reliability and dedication, has left a lasting impact on the school, setting a benchmark for future leaders. Thank you for your leadership this year, Zinzan. We now present you with the Head Prefect’s Prize and the Ormsby Memorial Medal.
