The collective effort and support from all students highlight the ‘brotherhood’ that defines Corfe House. The success of the year is encapsulated in the whakataukˉi: Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, he toa takitini – My strength is not as an individual but as a collective . Special thanks to Matthew Moggie, James Whitaker, and the Year 13 leaders for their contributions to the House’s achievements. Matthew Moggie – Head of House 2024 (an extract from his House Dinner speech) It has been a year filled with highs and lows for Corfe. While our success in interhouse competitions wasn’t as strong as we’d hoped, the House spirit this year has been truly exceptional – some of the best I’ve seen during my time in Corfe. We began the year with enthusiasm and

a great turnout at House events. A standout was Athletics Day at Ngaˉ Puna Wai, where everyone had the chance to participate, regardless of ability, and we achieved some impressive results. Early in the year,

our juniors shone in volleyball and hockey, delivering fantastic outcomes. Just as notable was the outstanding support from the rest of the House. However, as the year progressed, achieving top results became

Kia ora Corfe whaˉnau, It has been a strong and spirited year in Corfe House, with the boys embodying the motto Rem Bene – ‘Do it well’. The year began with the arrival of our Year 9 students, Edward, Matt, Dash, Max, Harry, Tyler, Luca, Samuel, George, Niklas, Ryan, Wills, Sichong, Tiger, Cohen, and Lucas. They were warmly welcomed by Matthew and James, attended Chapel with their parents, and were introduced to College by Executive Principal Garth Wynne. Later, they toured the campus with the Year 13 leaders before tackling escape rooms at Codebreakers in their mentor groups, fostering camaraderie from day one. Later that week, the full Corfe House of 80 students began their 2024 journey together, also welcoming new members JJ Wada and Josh Burton-Lyall. It marked the start of a year characterised by teamwork, connection, and dedication.

It has been a year filled with strong House spirit and camaraderie, despite varying successes in interhouse competitions. The commitment to participation and support was evident from the first event, swimming, with nearly every student contributing either in the pool or poolside. This spirit continued at Athletics Day at Ngaˉ Puna Wai, where Corfe finished 4th overall and achieved multiple individual victories. The standout performers included Ben Campbell, Max Hurring, Che De Luca, and Louie Garry. The Parents’ Association House Music Festival showcased the musical talents of Corfe, with notable performances from the Small Vocal Ensemble, Small Instrumental Ensemble (3rd place), and the House Choir, which performed Steal My Girl . Special recognition was given to student leaders who directed preparations. Corfe placed 5th overall but demonstrated exceptional teamwork and participation. In Term 3, Corfe took the stage for the REACTION House Plays Festival, performing David Campton’s Us and Them , which explored themes of trust and conflict. Despite a short preparation time, the play was executed successfully thanks to the dedication of the cast, crew, and student directors. The term concluded with the cross- country and haka competitions. In the cross-country, Ben Campbell finished 1st in the U16 race, with several others placing in the top 10.
