Best of Touring - Spring/Summer 24 IG

Myth 2: Every second is planned - I won’t get any free time. Many travellers think touring means being constantly on the go, with no time to relax and unwind. While some tours may offer a more structured itinerary, most tour operators offer a mix of scheduled activities and free time to explore on your own. This allows you to strike a balance between seeing the top sights and having the freedom to enjoy the destination at your own pace. Take some time to wind down, tick something off your list, or buddy up and explore – your free time is for you.

Myth 3: I’m a solo traveller, so I’ll feel left out on a group tour. If you're travelling solo, it's understandable to worry about feeling like the odd one out on a tour. However, group tours are a fantastic way to meet new people and form lasting friendships. If going solo is the only thing stopping you from embarking on a tour, have no fear- there are plenty of wonderful people in the same boat looking to make connections on tour. Many tour operators, such as Just You, even offer group tours specifically designed for solo travellers, so you can connect with like-minded individuals and share your travel experiences.

Myth 1: I’ll be sat on a coach the entire time.

While coach travel can be a convenient way to get around, it's not the only option when it comes to touring. From hiking the cloud-covered peaks of Machu Picchu to cruising down the iconic Route 66, there are tours for every physical preference. Many tours include a mix of transport options, to add variety to your sightseeing. Whether it's walking or cycling, boat trips or peaceful train journeys, tours allow you to experience the destination in a variety of ways.

Myth 5: It’s just sightseeing - I’ll not experience the destination. By design, touring often involves visiting the top tourist sights. But it's not all about sightseeing. Many tours offer unique experiences to immerse yourself in the local culture, such as cooking classes, wine tastings, visits to local markets and homestays. By participating in these activities, you'll gain a deeper understanding of a country and truly connect with local communities.

Myth 4: I’ll be following around a guide all day. While having a knowledgeable guide is incredibly helpful when exploring a new destination, it doesn't mean you need to be with them all day. At Hays Travel we believe the best travel memories are the ones you make yourself. Of course, your experienced local tour guide will ensure you see the top sights, and give you tips and recommendations to ensure you have a great trip while you are away. But tours aren’t designed to follow guides all day. Tours give you the best of both worlds- the benefit of a local guides expertise, as well as the freedom to explore at your own pace.
