Day 5: Tokyo - Takayama Your next base is Takayama, and a day of discovery starts with a visit to the ancient and perfectly preserved Matsumoto Castle - which has been designated a National Treasure of Japan. This afternoon, head to Daio Wasabi Farm to see how Japanese horseradish is grown and admire the wasabi plants from specially designed walking trails. Day 6: Takayama This morning enjoy some free time in Takayama. Later, head to one of Japan’s most scenic areas, Shirakawago, located along the Shokawa River. Day 7: Takayama - Kyoto After arriving in Kyoto by bullet train, you’ll begin sightseeing straight away with highlights including Nijo Castle and the Sanjusangendo Temple. Day 8: Kyoto Start the day by viewing the Kinkakuji Temple with its Golden Pavilion. Next, you’ll head to the beautiful district of Arashiyama, where a rickshaw ride through a bamboo forest promises to be a unique experience. Enjoy an authentic sushi-making demonstration before an afternoon of exploration in Nara. Day 9: Kyoto Enjoy a free day in Kyoto to spend entirely as you please. Day 10: Kyoto - Hiroshima Today, board the bullet train to Hiroshima. You’ll tour this rebuilt city and nearby Miyajima Island, taking in views of the beautiful Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO-listed site built over water. Day 11: Hiroshima - Osaka After arriving in Osaka, spend the rest of the day discovering Osaka Castle and the Floating Garden Observatory at the top of the Umeda Sky Building. Day 12: Osaka - UK Today you’ll transfer to Osaka airport for your return fight to the UK. Day 13: UK You’ll arrive back in the UK.

Day 1: UK - Tokyo Today you’ll board your overnight flight to Tokyo. Day 2: Tokyo Upon arrival in Tokyo, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Day 3: Tokyo Your exploration of Japan begins in dazzling Tokyo, and firstly you’ll visit Meiji Jingu Shrine, one of the Shinto shrines in Japan. Next, transfer to the district of Asakusa, where you’ll witness the fascinating Sensoji Buddhist temple. Day 4: Hakone & Mount Fuji A spectacular sight awaits you today as you journey to Hakone. This is the gateway to Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain, and the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. The scenery here is breathtakingly beautiful and you’ll take a cable-car ride over the Owakudani Valley to admire views of mountains, sulphur hot springs, and crystal-clear Lake Ashi. At the hot springs, you’ll have a chance to try the local delicacy of ‘black eggs’. Eating just one egg is believed to add seven years to your life!
